CPU: Core i7-14700K
First, we have the Intel Core i7-14700K processor, a mid-range option in the Raptor Lake Refresh line-up. This is a solid option for those who want a processor that can handle CPU-intensive tasks smoothly. It offers 20 cores, which are divided into 8 Performance cores and 12 Efficient cores. The Efficient cores are used for light tasks such as browsing, creating documents, and other tasks that don’t require a lot of processing power. On the other hand, the Performance cores are activated during intense tasks such as gaming, video editing, and animation.
We reviewed the Core i7-14700K and gave it 4.5 out of 5 marks due to its solid performance. We tested it in Cinebench R23 single and multi-core tests, where the CPU scored 2,174 and 33,914 points, respectively. On the other hand, in Geebench 6, the CPU scored 3,092 points in the single-core test and 21,046 points in the multi-core test. Overall, we found it to be a great processor for both creatives and gamers. However, do keep in mind that Intel processors tend to run hot, so make sure to get one of the best thermal pastes as well.
Motherboard: ASUS Z790 Gaming WiFi7
For the motherboard, we have the ASUS Z790 Gaming WiFi7, which offers specs similar to some of the best motherboards for the Intel Core i7-14700K. This motherboard comes with the LGA 1700 socket, so it is compatible with Intel 12th, 13th, and 14th gen processors. However, this also means that you won’t be able to switch to a Ryzen processor in the future.
For starters, the ASUS Z790 Gaming WiFi7 has four DDR5 slots, supporting a maximum capacity of 192GB. On top of that, there’s one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 3.0 x1 slot, and three PCIe 4.0 x16 slots. For SSDs, you’ll find three M.2 slots, but the board also offers four SATA 6GB/s ports for HDDs.
The motherboard also comes with plenty of connectivity options, with eight USB ports, one HDMI port, three audio jacks, one WiFi module, and one 1G Ethernet port. For the complete specs, you can visit its official product page on Asus’ website.
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR6
Finally, for RAM, the bundle offers the G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR5 memory. The kit includes two 16GB sticks, each with a speed of up to 6000 MHz. This much memory is more than enough for the latest games and productivity software. However, if you want more memory for some specific tasks, you can upgrade it up to 192GB.
A solid bundle with a great price
If you buy the three components individually, they’ll cost you around $667. However, through the Micro Center 3-in-1 bundle, you can get them for only $549.99. In short, you’ll save around $120, which you can use to get some other parts, such as one of the best CPU coolers for the 14700K.
