Nvidia announced at Computex 2025 that it’s offering over $50,000 in prizes in partnership with ModDB as it kicks off the Nvidia RTX Remix Mod Contest. For context, RTX Remix is an open-source modding platform that lets users remaster classic games with modern visuals, including ray tracing, AI-enhanced textures, and more. Something we saw most recently with Half-Life 2 RTX.
The contest is already live, and to enter, all you need to do is upload your RTX Remix mod to ModDB. According to Nvidia, this is one of the largest modding prize pools in history and will run until July 18th. Four lucky winners will walk away with a share of the $50,000 prize pool. Mods will be judged by the ModDB team, and winners will be announced during Gamescom 2025 this August, giving you just about two months to work on your creations.
One mod will take home $20,000
As mentioned earlier, the contest is divided into four main categories. Of these, only the developer of the Best Overall Remix Mod will take home the top prize of $20,000, while the winners of the other categories will each receive $10,000. All winners will also get 6 months of GeForce NOW Ultimate. Here’s a quick rundown of the categories and how each will be judged:
Best Overall RTX Remix Mod – $20,000 Cash Prize
- Most well-rounded, can be a slice of or a full demo
- Best use of RTX (Lighting/Volumetrics/Skin)

- Voting will take place solely on ModDB

This means that depending on your strengths, it's up to you which category you go for. Whether you want to win over the community with something fun or sacrifice sleep to create the most complete and playable remaster that shows off the power of RTX Remix, the choice is yours.
There are a few requirements you’ll need to meet before submitting your mod. For example, you'll need to include a video showcasing your mod's features, use the correct tag for the category you’re entering, and more. So make sure to carefully read the official rules and requirements page so you don’t miss any important details.
That said, the contest comes at a time when RTX Remix is now out of beta access after first being introduced back in 2022. Since then, Nvidia's modding platform has grown considerably. On the ModDB page for RTX Remix, there are already hundreds of mods available. In fact, Team Green says that over 100 RTX Remix mods have been completed and released, with more than 350 currently in development. Aside from the mod contest, Nvidia also announced a major update for Portal with RTX.
