Monster Hunter Wilds mod promises smoother experience after “countless hours” of optimization ahead of Title Update 1
Table of Contents
Despite amassing over a million concurrent players, Monster Hunter Wilds failed to maintain that number primarily due to its lack of optimization. Update after update, Capcom has yet to address the game’s biggest issue on PC, and it still hasn’t done so in the upcoming Title Update 1 patch. And in stark contrast, early benchmarks for Rebellion’s open-world survival game Atomfall have already earned it the title of one of the most optimized PC games of 2025, making it clear where the effort is lacking in MWH.
Since Capcom hasn’t done much to improve the game’s poor PC optimization, modders have taken matters into their own hands, whether by boosting FPS without compromising visual quality on mid and low-end GPUs or creating a Steam Deck config. However, unlike these tweaks that optimize settings for better performance, a new mod has appeared on Nexus Mods that enhances performance by remodeling the game’s 3D objects.
Re-Model promises 40% improvement in rendering performance
The mod in question is called Performance Booster Re-Model, and according to its description, it “focuses on optimizing 3D models for improved performance without sacrificing visual quality.” The creator states that after countless hours of tweaking and optimizing, the mod offers a slight 2% FPS increase and a massive 40% improvement in rendering performance. This results in smoother visuals, faster load times, and an overall enhanced gaming experience.
Features
Source: Nexus Mods
- Performance Optimization: Remodels large monster models to reduce polygon counts, significantly improving performance.
- FPS Boost: Experience a noticeable increase in FPS during monster encounters.
- Fast Rendering: Enjoy quicker rendering times for smoother gameplay.
- Re-Shading and Re-Texturing: Enhanced visuals with updated shading and textures.
- Smooth Animations: Monster animations are optimized for fluidity and responsiveness.
- Polygon Reduction: Monster models are reduced from 600,000 triangle counts to 180,000 triangle counts, ensuring better performance without sacrificing visual quality.
These countless hours of effort were dedicated to reducing the triangle count from 600,000 to 250,000, and further optimization has brought it down to 180,000. This significantly enhances performance by decreasing the computational load on your PC. Since its initial Version 1.5, the mod has already received three updates, each addressing bugs or remodeling certain areas, parts, bosses, and more.
Your game might crash a few times
While the mod has worked well for some, such as a ROG Ally X user who reported a “good” experience after installing it or an RTX 3070 owner who encountered no issues, a significant number of users have reported crashes or little to no improvement. Since there's no way to guarantee how well it will work on your system, the only way to find out is to install it and give it a shot.
That said, installing the mod can be a bit tricky, especially if you haven't modded Monster Hunter Wilds before. We highly recommend checking out this video, which was suggested by the mod’s uploader, to help you through the process.
