With Gamecoms 2024 in full swing, many eyes look towards AMD, as fans expect them to break the silence regarding the next generation of graphics cards or the Navi 4X GPUs.
Recently, we reported that AMD was probably planning on launching a couple of budget-tailored GPUs into their 7000-series lineup at this year’s Gamescom. However, since those leaks broke, new rumors have been swirling – including a more recent video from YouTube channel Moore’s Law is Dead which showcases the possible specifications and price of a new RX 8000 GPU.
That’s right, AMD could now release a brand new 8000-series GPU into their ranks. The GPU in question is said to be the RX 8800 XT – a stark change from the once-expected RX 7300 and 7400 from a few weeks ago.

If rumors are to be believed, this will come off the back of a fairly lackluster 9000-series launch – which saw all four CPUs have sluggish starts on opening sales week. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if AMD is going for a more aggressive GPU launch at Gamescom to try and redeem some credibility.
RX 8000 series GPU leaked information
In the video, he mentions that he got this information from someone inside AMD who gave him the following information:
- The RX 8000 series GPU has 64 Compute Units operating at 2.9 – 3.2GHz
- It has 96MB of Next-Gen Infinity Cache
- 256-bit memory interface width
- 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM
- 210 – 280W TDP
- Increased Ray Tracing Accelerator count per Compute Unit
- It’ll use TSMC 4nm processes
- Added FP8 and Matrix hardware
- $499 – $599 MSRP
Besides all of this information, the expected launch date for this GPU could be between October and November. However, take this information with a pinch of salt, as release schedules can easily be delayed, as we’ve experienced with the Ryzen 9000 series processors.
In the video, he further explained that AMD plans to release this GPU in large quantities in Q4 and that its rasterization performance should compete with the significantly more expensive RTX 4080.
In addition, the Ray Tracing performance should be on par with the RTX 4070 Ti Super and, in some titles, rival that of the RTX 4080. If this is true, AMD has really upped its RT game, giving Nvidia real competition, especially considering the aggressive pricing of the Navi 48 GPU.
Overall, if AMD is able to pull this off and provide performance rivaling Nvidia’s high-end GPUs at a much lower price point, we could see a huge shift in the market. That said, we recommend waiting on AMD’s official word and the performance results of this GPU before getting your hopes up.
