Nintendo Switch 2 CT scans are one way of revealing the new Nvidia SoC inside

The Switch 2 release has been a rather successful one, with it selling over 3.5 million copies within the first few days. Even then, it hasn’t been graded as the best console to repair, as iFixit gave it a three out of 10. That, alongside a CT scan of the handheld, gives us a great insight into what the console is made of.
The Reddit post shows how the console is put together, with each part also detailed. One of which is the Nvidia Tegra SoC, which is “unlike anything they’ve built before.” Considering the improved performance and ability to get a stable high framerate, the processor is doing its part in powering a top handheld option.
It’s not just the processor showcased through the scan of the console. It’s also the Realtek audio, MediaTek wireless connectivity, SK Hynix storage, two 6GB LPDDR5X RAM modules, and a large 5,220 mAh battery. All helpfully labelled in the scan below by the Redditor u/Scan-of-the-Month.

The SoC is the Tegra chip from Nvidia, specifically the GGMLX30-A1, which brings numerous improvements to the console. Primarily based on RTX hardware, which was introduced after the original Switch, this brings full ray tracing to the console and support for DLSS. Along with HDR, dedicated AI, all of which is low-powered to work in the small console.
However, it’s not just the processor that’s of interest from the scan; another is the WiFi and Bluetooth chip. As noted in the Reddit comments, the MediaTek chip is known for being unreliable and more limited compared to Intel’s offerings. Therefore, it may still be worth using Ethernet on Switch 2 when possible.

It does still offer improvements in speed with the other hardware parts, too. As the RAM brings low-powered DDR5X and the UFS storage onboard is a fast option too, with it, the SD card reader option also goes for faster speed instead of compatibility.
