It’s been less than a week since the Nintendo Switch 2 release date, and it’s clearly been a popular release. Even with a limited game lineup from day one, that hasn’t stopped people from snatching up the console to enjoy it and move on from the original. Nintendo has announced that, within the first four days, it has sold over 3.5 million consoles worldwide.

That’s even considering the fact that there weren’t many, or in some cases, no reviews of the console at all on its launch, showing that many people didn’t hesitate to buy it blindly. Or they might have waited at least a couple of days, considering it a four-day period report.

According to Nintendo, the report includes each console sold following June 5th. It specifies that it includes the Mario Kart World Set and the two versions available only in Japan, the Japanese-language and Multi-language versions. Essentially having four different versions summing up to over 3.5 million iniots and the highest global sales level for any Nintendo hardware in the same time period.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. (HQ: Kyoto, Minami-ku, Japan; Representative Director and President: Shuntaro Furukawa, “Nintendo” hereafter) announced that its new game system, Nintendo Switch 2, sold over 3.5 million units worldwide in the four days following its release on June 5, 2025*. This is the highest global sales level for any Nintendo hardware within the first four days.

The new Switch features numerous upgrades and improvements, making it a compelling handheld to consider. Not only does it offer exclusive games that you can’t play elsewhere, but it also features some new onboard capabilities. Like the improved screen, refresh rate, and Joy-Cons, the overall experience looks to be much better.

As Nvidia discussed the processor being a major breakthrough for them and Cyberpunk, claiming it’s the most Cyberpunk-like game to play, there’s a surprisingly high number of upgrades. With such a long period since the last release, you’d expect as much. Just the ability to upgrade your experience for Switch 1 games might convince you to get the new one.

It also introduces GameChat and finally integrates Discord directly into the console, making it easier to share your gaming experience with friends.
