For the past few years, Nvidia has been focusing heavily on AI technology, and the keynote for GTC 2025 is expected to follow a similar pattern. Huang is expected to announce a new version of the Blackwell GPUs with better specifications and probably also cover the project Nvidia has in the robotics, quantum computing, and automotive sectors.
Nvidia needs a big win
The start of 2025 has not gone well for Nvidia in a couple of ways. The launch of the consumer-grade RTX 50 series Blackwell GPUs has been plagued with issues ranging from missing ROPs to driver problems and critically low stock levels.
Nvidia's stock prices also took a hit when China-based AI model DeepSeek proved it was possible to perform complex AI tasks without needing Nvidia's expensive and exclusive “AI Accelerators”. There has also been a lot of consumer pushback against the use of AI-generated content in gaming, despite Nvidia pushing its AI NPC technology.
With all this in mind, Nvidia and Huang will need to pull something big out of the bag to restore confidence for both consumers and investors, but it is unknown if Nvidia has anything sufficiently exciting to unveil.
Perhaps we'll all be surprised on March 18th. The keynote will be taking place at 10 AM PT, with a free live stream at that time. If you want to attend in person, registration is required. You can read more on the Nvidia website.
