Rising GPU prices may have become unbearable for some people at this point, with higher-end graphics cards (with more VRAM) the most affected due to industry-wide memory shortages. For those looking to score a deal, this year’s QuakeCon may be your best shot, as Nvidia will be at the event selling Founders Edition RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070 cards at MSRP “while supplies last”.

June 22, 2026, marked 30 years since the release of the original Quake game, and QuakeCon is taking place this week (August 6-9) as a special 30th anniversary event. Nvidia has a large presence at the convention, partly to show off its Quake III Arena RTX Remix mod. The DOOM franchise is a part of the event too, and DOOM: The Dark Ages’ Revelations DLC will also be present.

It’s worth noting that these are the only three models to receive a first-party Founders Edition this generation – other cards in the series, such as the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti or lower, are only available through AIB/partner models. To jog your memory, this is how these RTX 50 series GPUs should cost at MSRP, based on their original launch pricing:

• RTX 5090: $1,999
• RTX 5080: $999
• RTX 5070: $549

There’s currently no indication of just how much stock will be available for MSRP, so if you happen to be attending QuakeCon, we’d recommend checking out Nvidia’s booth/area as soon as you can. Either way, Nvidia says attendees will also have the chance to win a new 50 series GPU, namely the RTX 5070. The best player in Quake III Arena RTX Remix and DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations challenges will receive a Founders Edition 5070, while runners-up will get their hands on some “Nvidia swag”.

In addition to the MSRP cards and the game challenge prizes, Nvidia will be giving away RTX 50 series GPUs in a Case Mod contest for those involved in the Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) LAN event. Anyone looking to enter should fill out the Case Mod Contest Form; prizes include up to the RTX 5080 and liquid coolers, with the grand winner earning a trip to Nvidia HQ.
