The initial launch of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 50 series saw a rush as consumers tried to get hold of the limited stock. Now the market is slowing down somewhat, as demonstrated by sales figures from a German retailer.

Numbers posted by tech blogger TechEpiphany on Twitter/X give a glimpse of the current state of the graphics card market, at least in one region. These figures came from German retailers Mindfactory, and showed that the pace of sales is beginning to slow, but AMD still holds the high ground based on the number of units sold.

RX 9070 XT is still on top

The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT popularity has endured, selling more than double its nearest rival, with 335 units sold compared to its closest competitor, the Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti, which sold 140 units. The post states that these stats are relevant to week 19, though this is possibly a mistake, as this was covered last week, so we may assume it instead covers week 20 (May 12 – 18).

GPU (top 10)Units sold
RX 9070 XT335
RTX 5060 Ti140
RX 7800 XT130
RTX 5080100
RTX 5070 Ti100
RTX 507090
RX 760085
RX 7900 XTX50
RTX 509045
RTX 406040

These figures do not distinguish between the 8GB and 16GB models of the RTX 5060 Ti, but based on the consumer reaction to the 8GB version elsewhere, it is likely to be the 16GB version that sells the most. Overall, AMD still leads with 685 units sold, though Nvidia is catching up with 575 units sold. These figures are lower than previous weeks, suggesting a slowdown in market demand as the excitement of new GPU launches dies down.

Nvidia's Blackwell RTX 50 series GPUs are generally doing well, whereas the preceding RTX 40 and RTX 30 series cards have almost dropped off the charts. Intel is just barely holding on, with only 10 units sold of the Intel Arc B570, representing less than 1% of the sales figures. As usual, it’s important to point out that these stats cover just one region and are not representative of worldwide trends and sales.

Regardless, the launch of the Nvidia RTX 5060 might shift things around, as -60 suffix cards have traditionally been the most popular among PC gaming fans. However, the RX 9060 XT is also expected to be unveiled tomorrow, which may challenge the RTX 5060’s expected place in the GPU hierarchy.
