Nvidia’s RTX 5090 could be months away from restock, according to popular UK retailer

Nvidia launched the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 at the end of January and it’s safe to say not everything went to plan. The brand-new high-end graphics cards sold out almost instantly and finding one in stock has been a struggle ever since. Some of these stock issues have been blamed on a production bottleneck over the Chinese New Year period – luckily for PC gamers, that is soon coming to an end.
We’ve put together an RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 stock tracker if you want to keep on top of the latest developments, and now, popular retailer Overclockers UK has revealed that the RTX 5090 could take as long as 16 weeks to be stocked back up. RTX 5080 stock looks more promising, with an up to 5 weeks wait expected.

Overclockers UK gives stock update for RTX 5090 and RTX 5080
The first thing to note is that pre-orders from OCUK are no longer being taken. The “majority of 5080 pre-orders have now been fulfilled” and any remaining SKUs are currently being worked on according to a recent post on X (formerly Twitter). “Extremely limited quantities of RTX 5080 stock” in the supply chain is also mentioned, but it’s the RTX 5090 that could be the longer wait for consumers, ranging from 3 to 16 weeks.

We recently ran a poll that revealed that PC gamers would rather pay more for an RTX 5090 than get the 5080, and this has seemingly been reflected in the sales volumes. As we work our way through February, Overclockers UK doesn’t expect any available stock for these cards for a few more weeks, meaning we could spill over into March and beyond before they are readily available to consumers.
With the RTX 5070 Ti reportedly releasing on February 20th, and its own stock issues expected, it could be a tough next few weeks (or months) for Nvidia fans looking to upgrade. There will be a couple of alternatives from AMD on the way in the form of the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, which will be available from early March according to AMD’s CEO, Lisa Su. So, considering the ongoing stock issues with Nvidia, it could be the perfect time for AMD to capitalize (if Team Red doesn’t run into similar supply issues).
