For quite some time, players have been eagerly awaiting the release of Final Fantasy 16 on PC. The PlayStation 5 exclusive title will be launched for PC gamers next month (over a year since it was originally released) and a demo of the game is currently available. It’s coming to popular PC storefronts such as Steam and Epic Games, and while the demo has some performance issues, excitement remains high.

To add to the excitement, in a recent interview, Hiroshi Takai, the director of Final Fantasy 16, said that in the future, it is likely that all the games in the franchise will be available on PC right after the launch.

Final Fantasy fans might not have to wait for a PC port in future

While speaking to GamesRadar, Takai was asked whether the future installments of the popular franchise will be released on PC on day one – i.e. at the same time as the usual console launch.

“I think that’s possible – probably even likely,” Takai responded. He also added that while the decision lies with the team in charge of a specific project, he’s personally in favor of immediate PC releases.

We don’t yet know what the future of Final Fantasy looks like, but it will be a welcome change if PC gamers can get access right away. The topic of console exclusives is a hotly debated one, and the (relatively) recent discourse of PlayStation trying to push players over from PC to console is proof of that.

Final Fantasy 16 will be released on PC on September 17th, which is only a few weeks away. Along with the base game, players will be able to purchase two DLCs right away. At the moment, players can try out the demo to get a better glimpse of the PC experience.
