Nvidia’s RTX 50 series has been the center of attention lately, but not all of it is positive. Gamers are disappointed with the underwhelming “paper launch” of the RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs. We asked enthusiasts which GPU they have their eyes on, and the RTX 5080 is one of the less popular options. So, in short, there aren’t many smiles surrounding the RTX 50 series right now, and some are already hoping for the Super series GPUs to come in and save the day.

The green team has secured trademarks for future GPUs, including the RTX 6090 and RTX 50 Super series GPUs. There is no guarantee that all (or any) of these will see the light of day, however. We did recently come across leaks about a new Nvidia graphics card with 96GB of VRAM, but that’s likely not intended for the gaming market.

There was also an alleged RTX 5090 prototype featuring faster memory, more CUDA cores, and an increased TDP compared to the current version, so there's definitely more happening behind the scenes. Until we get concrete information on the RTX 50 Super series, here's what people are predicting (or hoping) the RTX 50 Super GPUs will feature.

More VRAM is what people want from a Super RTX 50 series

Over on X, users are predicting specifications for the RTX 50 Super series GPUs, and it seems like there aren't many demands except for more VRAM. We’ve already seen users complaining about the lower VRAM on the RTX 5070 and even the RTX 5080, a $1,000 GPU with just 16GB of VRAM – so more VRAM is a justifiable demand. This has been accelerated by the fact that there is such as thing as 3GB GDDR7 modules which could be used in 50-series GPUs – just like they reportedly are in 50-series laptop GPUs.

  • 5060: 4x3GB – 12GB
  • 5070: 6x3GB – 18GB
  • 5080: 8x3GB – 24GB

These specifications, according to users, are what NVIDIA should have offered with the RTX 5070 and 5080 GPUs. However, it's now more likely we'll see them with the RTX 50 Super series – if NVIDIA decides to release such a series. That said, this is still just gamers wishing for better GPUs, and nothing is official yet, so don’t get your hopes too high. Last year, we saw the launch of the 4080 Super, 4070 Ti Super, and 4070 Super, which helped provide better value for money – and more VRAM in the case of the Ti.

AMD’s RX 9070 series GPUs are also on the way

Apart from NVIDIA, AMD is also under the spotlight. After seeing the results of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series, gamers are looking forward to how well the Red Team will do with their RX 9070 series GPUs and whether they can provide some competition.

The RX 9070 and 9070 XT are both slated to come with 16GB of VRAM. On top of that, if AMD can manage to price their GPUs much cheaper, they should be able to divert attention from the RTX 50 series, especially since the first RX 9070 series GPUs are expected to launch in early March with “high-quality 4K gaming” support.
