State of Play is one of Sony’s biggest showcase events, where the company gives fans a closer look at upcoming games for PlayStation users. These presentations usually feature a mix of third-party titles, indie projects, and games from PlayStation Studios. What to expect from the February State of Play
When it comes to what will be shown, Sony is keeping things fairly vague. The company has not confirmed any specific games ahead of time. What we do know, however, is that Bungie has confirmed that Marathon will be a part of the show, sharing on Discord (screenshot here from @Zuby_Tech on X) that “a gameplay livestream with some special guests” and game director Joe Zielgler will also be taking place following State of Play at around 3 PM PST.
According to Sony, this month’s State of Play will include “news, gameplay updates, and announcements from game studios across the globe.” The presentation will feature third-party and indie games coming to PlayStation 5, along with updates from teams at PlayStation Studios.
Despite the lack of many official confirmations, there is still plenty of speculation, such as a possible sequel to Detroit: Become Human. Actor Bryan Dechart, who played Connor in the original game, recently dropped a few hints on X about it. On top of that, the PC port of Death Stranding 2 is also expected to be announced during the event.
That said, Sony has confirmed that the presentation will run for around an hour. With that amount of time, viewers can expect a decent number of announcements and gameplay reveals. We might also get to see more of Resident Evil: Requiem, which is scheduled for release later this month.
