The PS5 Pro is becoming difficult to find in the US, with the console reportedly selling out at several major retailers following the latest GTA 6 reveal. The sudden increase in demand comes shortly after Rockstar Games released its lengthy GTA 6 Extended Look, which gave fans a much more detailed look at the game and increased excitement ahead of its November launch.
The PS5 Pro, which normally costs $899.99, is currently unavailable at multiple retailers, including Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and PlayStation Direct, according to recent reports. With regular stock disappearing, some third-party sellers started listing the console for considerably more, with prices reportedly reaching as high as $1,300 on Amazon, while new PS5 Pro units on eBay have also appeared for around $1,499.
The GTA 6 Extended Look is one of the main reasons behind the sudden demand. The 27-minute presentation showed a huge amount of new gameplay, characters, locations, activities, vehicles, and technical details, giving fans their clearest look yet at Rockstar’s upcoming game. It also highlighted the level of detail Rockstar is putting into the world, which may have convinced some players that they want the most powerful PlayStation available before the game launches.

Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will receive PS5 Pro enhancements, although the studio has not explained exactly what those improvements will be. This has led some players to buy the more powerful console in the hope of getting the best possible experience.
However, there is an important limitation to keep in mind. Current reports suggest that GTA 6 is targeting 30 FPS on PS5, and a 60 FPS mode on PS5 Pro is considered unlikely because of the game’s heavy CPU demands. The Pro could still offer better image quality, graphics, or other visual improvements, but buyers shouldn’t assume that it will guarantee a 60 FPS experience.
