Although the game has not been officially released yet, there are already some gamers with early access. This means we get an insight into what it looks like, and what’s available in-game. That includes the hidden settings in Star Wars Outlaws, a secret top setting pushing the graphics even higher than is available by default.
Posted by u/Spoggi99 on Reddit the new highest setting is called Outlaw quality and pushes the requirements even higher up. Unlocked by adding “-unlockmaxsettings” as a start parameter in the Ubisoft Launcher, you then get access to this preset to push the graphics higher. But it may not be reachable by current standards, as even the best GPU for Star Wars Outlaws is on the level of the RTX 4080 Super to play on Ultra, so it might not even be feasible to get a good framerate on this new setting.
Star Wars Outlaws is graphically demanding
User RedIndianRobin states “This game is way more demanding than I thought it would be TBH. Even a 4090 is struggling to run it at a consistent 60 with RTXDI enabled.” Plus, OP Spoggi99 posted a screenshot from this setting, with the performance stats available, where the 4080 Super and i7-12700K ran around 45FPS. So it’s not exactly the best choice for a great experience but is a handy tool to have many years down the line when the hardware is a lot better.

Why is it not included normally?
As fun as it is to crank the graphics, it’s not ideal when it results in a bad gameplay experience. By standard, you want to be hitting 60FPS, especially on PC so you can enjoy the smooth framerate or reliably match your refresh rate. You don’t want to put everything on max and fall below your target FPS, and after seeing top hardware failing to handle the game, it doesn’t make sense to offer it.
I guess to avoid people just putting everything on max and then complaining it doesn’t run well (but then if they are dumb…)?
Radulno
As Radulno mentions, it would also likely lead to many people complaining it doesn’t play well, that it’s not optimized, and needs more time. Instead of just keeping top graphics hidden trying to ensure a good experience is more important. Instead hiding these as more of an easter egg leaves it to those who understand its limitations. Instead, we’ll have to resort to lower graphics and upscaling like DLSS to try and improve the framerate.
