Retailer raffles off the chance to buy the RTX 5080 at Nvidia’s recommended price

By now, it is hardly a secret that the launch of Nvidia's RTX 50 series of graphics cards has not exactly gone smoothly. Supply issues have made it difficult for many customers to even buy a card, never mind finding one for the actual MSRP. One retailer has come up with a unique solution to these woes.
Customers have been struggling to find an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU at all, much less at MSRP. High demand and low supply have pushed up prices. Also contributing are unscrupulous resellers buying up available stock and selling it online for vastly inflated prices.

According to Videocardz, a retailer in India has partnered with GPU supplier Coloful to create a raffle where three lucky people will win the chance to buy an RTX 5080 at MSRP. Yes, that's correct. Instead of just outright winning a card, lucky winners will just be given a chance to buy the card at what should be the standard retail price.
You win the chance to spend $1,000
The card in question is a Colorful iGame Ultra model of the RTX 5080, a high-end model that would usually go for a price higher than MSRP. So I suppose they are at least winning a discount. The card is fairly attractive too, with sleek white housing and pink highlights, plus the Colorful signature ‘Turbo' button.
After the debacle with missing ROPs, black screen driver issues, and melting connectors, it beggars belief that this is the situation we’re in right now. Customers really should not have to gamble for a slim chance to spend the equivalent of $999.
It is still a better option for consumers than the rampant price gouging that has been seen in many regions. So far, the only measure that Nvidia has taken to address the issue has been the US-only ‘Priority Access' program, which seems wildly inadequate in the current market.
