QuakeCon is taking place this week, but it has never been only about Quake – there’s also plenty of room for DOOM, with new announcements and merch to be expected. As part of the 30th anniversary event, Evercade has unveiled a special DOOM Edition version of its Nexus handheld, along with The DOOM Collection featuring the two original titles and “6 amazing map packs”.

The DOOM Edition bundle features a unique DOOM-themed version of the physical cartridge-based handheld; the DOOM Collection shipping alongside it comes with a boxed cartridge. Extra goodies include a DOOM-branded carrying case, poster, comic, and more. The handheld can be pre-ordered later today, and pre-orders are already up for The DOOM Collection.

Evercade Nexus DOOM Edition handheld goes on sale on August 7

The limited-edition DOOM Nexus is exclusive to Funstock (UK and USA). At the time of writing, pre-order listings have yet to go live, but they’ll arrive today (August 7) at 3 PM UK time, or 10 AM Eastern / 7 AM Pacific in the United States. As seen in the graphic below, just 3,000 units will be available, and the collection features the following:

  • DOOM Nexus handheld console
  • DOOM Comic
  • The DOOM Collection Cartridge
  • Evercade DOOM Keyring
  • DOOM-branded Protective Hard Shell Carry Case
  • A3 Double-Sided DOOM Poster
  • Certificate of Authenticity

The DOOM Collection is priced at £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99. As for the entire DOOM Edition bundle (including the handheld and other extras), this will set you back £199.99 / $249.99 / €239.99. Everything in this new launch will be released on October 30th.

What’s on The DOOM Collection cartridge?

  • DOOM
  • DOOM II
  • Master Levels for DOOM II
  • TNT: Evilution
  • The Plutonia Experiment
  • No Rest for the Living
  • SIGIL
  • SIGIL II
  • DOOM: Deathmatch Pack

QuakeCon is also hosting the likes of Nvidia, which has been showing off Quake III RTX Remix while running competitions, giveaways, and even selling RTX 50 series GPUs for MSRP (a rarity these days). As a technical partner for DOOM: The Dark Ages, Nvidia has also been busy promoting the new Revelations expansion, which came out exactly a month ago – July 7.
