ROG Xbox Ally price leak might be the best one so far while we continue to wait for pre orders

The only thing we know for sure about the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handhelds are the specs, features, and release date. The devices will be available on October 16, and while we expected pre-orders to come during Gamescom, they were ultimately delayed. Rumor has it they’ll kick off before the end of September, but we’ll have to wait and see if that comes to fruition.
In any case, the last piece of the Xbox Ally puzzle is the price. During Gamescom, Microsoft and ASUS came out to say that the price was not finalized due to uncertainty amid U.S. tariffs. There has been talk of the price for a while now, with some rumors last month pointing towards $549.99 and $899.99 for the Xbox Ally and Ally X, respectively.
Latest price leak for the ROG Xbox Ally X
Information from YouTuber Destin Legarie gives us the most recent look into how much these Ryzen Z2-powered devices could cost. Interestingly enough, the numbers are the very same as last month’s leak, giving credence to what we’ve already heard.
- ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X: $899.99
- ASUS ROG Xbox Ally: $549.99
The YouTuber originally uploaded a video to talk about the pricing, which ended up causing some confusion. It showed images of a ROG Ally X (the 2024 model), wrongly reported as the new Xbox-branded version, with pricing details at a Best Buy kiosk. To clear things up, Destin claims he contacted Best Buy, and customer support told him the pricing is the same as initially reported.
He talked about this in an update to the story (video above), while also revealing early price leaks via a retailer in New Zealand. These NZ listings from retailer PB Tech are still available to see and can be found with simple Google search.

As we can see above, they are priced at NZ$1,799.00 and NZ $1,099.00, which converts around $1,050 and $645 USD, respectively. However, if you take away the standard NZ goods and services tax (15%), these prices lie close to the original leaked values after conversion.
In conclusion, it seems the official Xbox Ally pricing is still up in the air, especially with Xbox console prices increasing lately, but everything so far points towards $899.99/$549.99 for the two new handhelds. Assuming that pre-orders are just around the corner (September 25 expected based on well-known leaker billbil-kun), it’s best to just wait and see during this period of uncertainty.
