The next stop on the tech industries’ event calendar is CES 2025, which opens up exhibits on January 7th. Just ahead of that though, we already know that Nvidia has penciled in its keynote for the 6th, and it could be when it announces the RTX 50 series. And now, the hype is ramping up as Nvidia announces its plans for GeForce at CES 2025.

On top of that, The Game Awards have just taken place, and besides the long list of awards, we also have game announcements to think about. One of the biggest reveals was for The Witcher 4, the long-awaited sequel from CD PROJEKT RED. A cinematic reveal trailer gave us our first look at the upcoming title, pre-rendered in Unreal Engine 5 on “an unannounced Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU” expected to be a 50 series card.

Nvidia announces GeForce Greats and GeForce LAN 50

It has been 25 years since Nvidia launched its first GPU, the Nvidia GeForce 256. We’ve already seen some anniversary celebrations back when Team Green was giving away three retro RTX 4080 Super gaming PCs. Following that, Nvidia has announced a “prize-filled adventure” with the GeForce LAN 50 online and in-person in Las Vegas, Berlin, Taipei, and Beijing.

It has also announced the #GeForceGreats initiative which will be live from today through January 6th. To start participating, follow the brand’s GeForce, GeForce NOW, Studio, and AI PC social channels to have the chance to win prizes from a series of “mystery boxes” – further engagement will build the ‘GeForce Hype Meter’ to boost the prize pool. For clarification, the steps below explain how to participate:

  • Follow GeForce, GeForce NOW, Studio, and AI PC social channels
  • Be on the lookout for key prompts and instructions
  • When prompted, use #GeForceGreats across relevant posts now through January 6th

Within (one of) the official announcement posts, it is clear that we’re building up to the CES keynote where we are likely to see the RTX 50 series revealed.

“As we approach Jensen’s keynote at CES 2025 on January 7th, help unlock and expand the prize pool by using #GeForceGreats in social posts. See what’s up for grabs each week by bookmarking our GeForce Greats homepage; one very lucky grand prize winner will receive something truly incredible.”

The Witcher IV reveal trailer rendered by an upcoming RTX GPU

Looping back around to The Game Awards which took place on December 12th, there was a cinematic reveal trailer for The Witcher IV. As soon as the video starts you’re met with a message: “Cinematic trailer pre-rendered in Unreal Engine 5 on an unannounced Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU” – if this isn’t talking about an RTX 50 card, then we’d be surprised. Nvidia also featured some The Witcher content in one of its #GeForceGreats posts.

We’ve already seen some early leaked specs for the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, and it’s these two high-end cards that are expected to be revealed this coming January. All we can do now is wait, so stay tuned for further information.
