The next generation of graphics cards is on the horizon and we can start looking forward to Nvidia’s RTX 50 series in early 2025. The same goes for the upcoming AMD RX 8000 and Intel Arc Battlemage series, and now we have an exact date to look forward to for Team Green.

It has previously been announced that CES 2025 exhibits will take place between January 7th and 10th, 2025, in Las Vegas. As one of the biggest tech events of the year, it is home to many next-gen hardware announcements, and the RTX 50 series is expected to be a part of that. Last year, we saw Nvidia launch its 40-series Super cards at the event.

RTX 50 series could be announced on January 6th

Just ahead of the convention (and its exhibits) opening up to the tech industry, we will get to see the Nvidia CEO Keynote on January 6th, at 6.30 pm Pacific Time. As the name would suggest, the keynote will be presented by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. While this doesn’t guarantee he will be announcing the new line-up, we did see Nvidia reveal the current-gen Super cards the day before CES opened up last year.

Nvidia announced RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4080 Super during last year’s ‘Special Address’

What to expect from the 50 series

In the build-up to the RTX 50 series launch, there has been plenty of speculation and rumors on the way. Most notably, leaked specs for the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 gave us some idea of generational uplift, with the flagship 5090 seeing the biggest upgrades. Less has been seen from some of the cheaper cards, but that’s to be expected as the top two cards will likely be the first to be launched. Current predictions place the 5090 and 5080 within January 2025.

Both GPUs are expected to see upgraded GDDR7 memory (up from GDDR6X), and the 5090 could feature 32GB of it (up from 24GB on the RTX 4090). Plus, the new flagship could be breaking the 10K mark for CUDA cores with 10,752 expected. Support for DisplayPort 2.1 was also leaked, matching AMD’s RX 7000 series.
