RTX 5080 upgrade for GeForce Now won’t be available in every region, some will have to wait until “later in 2026”
Table of Contents
In case you missed it, Nvidia is upgrading its GeForce Now cloud gaming service. It’s safe to say that this is one of the best updates it has ever received; an Nvidia rep called it the “biggest upgrade for GFN ever in the past 10 years”. Anyway, what we’re talking about is the upgrade to RTX 5080 hardware, which also includes support for up to 90 FPS on the Steam Deck.
There’s also the new Install-to-Play feature, which will instantly double Steam library support. These upgrades are set to come in September, but the launch has been confirmed to be held back in a couple of regions down under. Australia and New Zealand miss out on support, and many more regions – those that rely on ‘Alliance Partners’ – will also be affected.
GeForce Now Alliance Partners don’t get the upgrade until 2026
While Nvidia will be upgrading the hardware in its servers, not every region gets access to GeForce Now directly through Nvidia. There’s a notable number of regions that rely on various GFN Alliance Partners, one of these being Cloud.GG, which covers Australia and New Zealand. Cloud.GG Community Manager, Shaxx, confirmed in a Reddit post that the upcoming update won’t support Alliance Partners until 2026. It’s unclear just how soon in 2026 support will be available.

Do take note that this list was last updated in December 2024, so it is not 100% up-to-date. For example, it doesn’t include India, which is getting GeForce Now this November. In a recent blog post, Nvidia says India “follows Thailand as the latest region to gain access to GeForce NOW through GFNA partner Brothers Picture,” which implies they will also miss out on immediate 5080 support. The list above also places Thailand under ‘StarHub’, so there’s probably some updating to do on Nvidia’s part.

For regions that can stream their games directly from the source, Nvidia, the update launches in September. This includes regions such as the U.S., UK, Canada, and much of mainland Europe. GeForce Now Ultimate subscribers get access to RTX 5080-level performance in a select number of games. The best part is that the price is exactly the same: $19.99 (USD) a month. Nvidia says “RTX 5080-enabled games will roll out weekly”.
