For a while now, there have been rumors about Meta soon launching a new VR headset. As per the online speculation, this headset will be a more affordable and “lite” version of the Meta Quest 3, which was released in October 2023.
So far, we have not received any confirmation from Meta that a new VR headset is in the works. We don’t even if would be called ‘Meta Quest 3S’. However, from what we know from rumors, the VR headset might be similar to the Meta Quest 2 and may be cheaper than Quest 3. To add to that speculation, an X user has shared some interesting information regarding this rumored headset.
Meta Quest 3S may have an “Action button” and LED lights
According to some of the latest posts by Lunayian, the rumored Meta Quest 3S will have an “Action” button located at the bottom of the visor. And in another related post, the X user mentioned that the Action button would be used to toggle between an immersive virtual environment and seeing your real surroundings in passthrough mode. They also suggested that this button may be re-mappable.
In addition to this, there is yet another post on X, which suggests that the Meta Quest 3S will have two LED lights – one would display status, and the other be a bystanding signaling display light. Now, even though these might seem exciting features to have on the upcoming headset, these are speculative. Meta has yet to confirm that it is working on a new headset, let alone reveal specs and details.
On that note, Meta has the Meta Connect 2024 event scheduled for September 25th and 26th. It is possible that the company might shed some light on the rumored VR headset during the event.
