After originally launching its first tri-fold smartphone in South Korea last December, Samsung brought the Galaxy Z Trifold to the United States on January 30. Now, less than two months after the US launch, reports of discontinuation are being confirmed. If you’re seriously interested in picking up one of these flagship phones, you may not have long before it’s out of stock for good.

Bloomberg was one of the first publications to break the story, keen to point out the premium $2,899 price tag (and that’s only for the 512GB model). We never got to find out how much the 1TB variant cost, or if Samsung ever planned to run a ‘double the storage on us’ offer as we saw on the recently-launched Galaxy S26 series.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold to be discontinued

It seems like the Trifold was always destined for a limited run, though we didn’t expect it to be quite this short. In any case, you’ll find that the smartphone is already listed as ‘Sold Out’ on the official Samsung US store, with customers instead being directed towards finding the closest Samsung Experience store for a hands-on demo. At the time of writing, there are just over 100 reviews on the official store, with 97% of reviewers recommending the premium device.

Reports suggest the phone will first cease sales in South Korea (where it first went on sale), before being discontinued in the United States as soon as inventory is cleared. As we said, it’s already unavailable online, but it may still be available in a number of brick-and-mortar stores.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold boasts a large 10-inch screen when unfolded, access to Galaxy AI features, and a 200 MP Ultra Camera. The brand calls it “the most immersive screen on a phone” – ideal for productivity and cinematic viewing. Other specs include 16GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and a 5,600 mAh battery – the biggest Samsung has ever put inside a foldable phone. It never made it to the UK or Europe (and reportedly wasn’t planned to), so now’s the last time we might see it at all.
