Slay the Spire 2 was first announced back in April 2024, and after a long wait, it finally entered early access on March 5. The launch was strong right from the start, with the game hitting over 175,000 players within just a few hours. Since then, it has continued to succeed, especially among handheld players. In fact, Steam Deck users seem to be enjoying it the most, as the game is currently sitting at the very top of the official charts.

The Steam Deck Top Played charts give a clear idea of what players are spending their time on. These rankings are based on playtime, so they reflect what games are actually being played the most on the device. If you check the latest list, Slay the Spire 2 is holding the number one spot, and it doesn’t come as a surprise given its monstrous launch numbers.

Steam Deck top 10 in March 2026

What makes this even more impressive is the competition it has beaten. The game has managed to stay ahead of popular titles like Stardew Valley, Mewgenics, and even Baldur’s Gate 3. That alone shows how strong its early access performance has been. As of now, it stands as the most-played Steam Deck game of March 2026. We imagine it will keep this momentum going into April, or at the very least, remain in the top 10 for a long while.

Slay the Spire 2 builds on everything that made the original game popular while adding new features and systems. The game takes players back to the Spire, which has now evolved into a more dangerous and unpredictable place. Every run feels different, thanks to new cards, relics, potions, and enemies that constantly change how you approach each climb. You can also play solo or team up with up to four players in the new co-op mode.

There are five playable characters, each with their own unique playstyle and abilities. Some will feel familiar, while others are completely new. The game also expands on the lore, letting players uncover more about the Spire and its history through repeated runs. Since it is in early access, more content is already planned, including new cards, enemies, and events, which means the game will continue to grow over time.

You’ll also notice that the original Slay the Spire is still enjoying great success among Steam Deck users, currently sitting in fourth place and jumping up a few spots compared to last month. In the overall Steam most played charts, the usual suspects such as Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG remain on top, but the Slay the Spire series really works great on handheld.
