Valve has just released a new stable Steam Deck Client update packed with bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements for SteamOS-powered handhelds. Highlights include updated battery settings, which were previously limited to the Beta and Preview channels. There's also a minor memory optimization when switching to and from Big Picture Mode, though the rest of the memory changes from the May 16th Beta Client update didn't make it into this release. Here are the full patch notes:

General

  • Moved display dim and suspend timeout settings to Settings->Power.
  • Moved ‘Show Battery Percentage’ setting to Settings->Power.
  • Clicking on the battery header icon now navigates to Settings->Power.
  • Proton Voice Files speech synthesis data will now be automatically installed based on Steam Deck compatibility testing results.
  • Reduced steamwebhelper memory usage when launching games.
  • Fixed pasting from on-screen keyboard.
  • Fixed controller not working intermittently after Steam restart.
  • Fixed games failing to connect to the Steam process when the Steam process id contains certain values.
  • Fixed battery percentage not showing in the header when the battery is full.
  • Fixed SteamOS compatible devices showing Steam Deck Verified installation warnings instead of the SteamOS Compatible version.
  • Fixed transitions snapping backwards in the Welcome Wizard.

Steam Input

  • Speculative Fix for rare DualSense Edge gyroscope related bug.

Desktop Mode

  • Reduced steamwebhelper memory usage when switching to/from Big Picture Mode.
  • Fixed rare steamwebhelper crash when switching to/from Big Picture Mode.

Battery Charge Limit is still in Beta

Initially, Valve made a mistake in the patch notes by claiming that the new Battery Charge Limit feature was added from the previous Beta. They later removed that part from the changelog and clarified in the comments that it actually requires SteamOS 3.7, which is still in Beta. For those unaware, the Battery Charge Limit feature was introduced in the May 8th Beta Client update and lets users cap charging at 80% to help preserve long-term battery health.

That said, the update also brings a number of changes for Desktop Steam as well. Steam Deck users can grab the latest update through the system settings or simply by restarting Steam.
