Steam Frame reservation invites are being sent out today, here’s when you might get to pre-order one

Valve opened reservations for the Steam Frame earlier this week, and the first batch of sign-ups is coming to a close today (September 17). Those who registered their interest should soon find out whether they’ve been selected for an opportunity to actually pre-order the VR headset.
Rather than simply opening Steam Frame orders to everyone at once, Valve is using a randomized reservation system. This should give genuine buyers a better opportunity to secure one while making it more difficult for scalpers to grab large amounts of stock. A similar system was introduced for the Steam Controller earlier this year, as well as the Steam Machine at the end of June.
When will Valve send out Steam Frame pre-order invites?
The first reservation window closes today at 10 AM PT. After that, Valve will randomize eligible sign-ups and begin sending purchase invitations to selected customers. Valve says, “You will receive an email with your results within a day,” so keep an eye on your email inbox once the invites have been sent out.

Keep in mind that Valve only sells its hardware directly through the Steam store in a handful of regions (US, Canada, UK, EU, and AUS). In select Asian regions, customers can grab one from Komodo Station, rather than go through the reservation queue.
There are three requirements you need to meet to sign up for the reservation queue. Your Steam account must be “in good standing,” you must have made a Steam purchase before April 27, 2026, and only one sign-up is allowed per household. Valve says it will use details such as payment methods and shipping addresses to identify duplicate entries.
We’re expecting another batch of reservations to open after the current one ends. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean sign-ups will immediately reopen today. Depending on how much stock Valve has available, the second batch could appear within a few days or potentially take much longer. Valve is still working to resolve Controller and Machine orders, so it’s not exactly a snappy process.
Valve also hasn’t announced an exact release date for the Steam Frame. This means even customers who receive an invitation and successfully place an order don’t yet know exactly when the headset will begin shipping, but we should soon find out.
