PSSR for GTA 6 seemingly confirmed as PlayStation accidentally reveals features ahead of launch
Table of Contents
It looks like Grand Theft Auto VI will feature PSSR support on the PlayStation 5 Pro when it launches this month. The flagship console has exclusive access to Sony’s AI-based upscaling technology, which is essentially the console’s equivalent to suites such as DLSS and FSR from Nvidia and AMD, respectively. PlayStation France briefly listed the feature for GTA 6, before the page was removed earlier today.
We’re just over two weeks away from the GTA 6 release date, and hype surrounding the game only continues to build. Rockstar has been ramping up marketing (sometimes in unusual places, such as a recent South Park episode), while Sony has been making sure security is in top shape with recent PS5 software updates. The game launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
GTA 6 on the PlayStation 5
Rockstar has already backed Sony’s claims that GTA 6 “Plays best on PS5” in its marketing material, and it seems that PSSR, alongside “Advanced Ray Tracing,” will be a part of that. Other features exclusive to the PlayStation ecosystem include haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the official DualSense controller, alongside Tempest 3D AudioTech for immersive sound, and “near-instant load times” on the PS5’s SSD storage.

With the new leak, which seemed to have been uploaded earlier than intended, these same technologies are echoed. However, the leak also throws PS5 Pro-specific features into the mix, including PSSR. There’s also mention of “Advanced Ray Tracing” for Grand Theft Auto VI; ray-tracing support had already been confirmed in an analysis by Digital Foundry a couple of months ago.
As mentioned, PSSR is exclusive to the PS5 Pro, but Sony also released QSSR AI upscaling on October 1. This is essentially a cut-down version of the technology compatible with the standard PS5, but we haven’t seen any suggestion that it’s available in GTA 6 at launch. While PSSR is supported in over 100 games, QSSR is currently much more limited; just two Sony-published games so far (Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yลtei).
