There are just “a few more days” until RTX 5090 benchmarks drop, without help from DLSS 4

Table of Contents
Nvidia fans are currently looking forward to the launch of the RTX 50 series cards, including the RTX 5090, which will be released at the end of this month. This will be the flagship model of the series, offering specs that we’ve never seen before in a gaming GPU, including 32GB of VRAM. However, while the card is already in the hands of reviewers and early testers, they are unable to share the performance benchmarks due to a strict embargo. But as per the official PCMR X account, the wait will be over soon.
Just a few more days left
The official PCMR X account has hinted that we will see the performance benchmarks in just a few more days (for the 5090 at least). This comes after a strict embargo was mentioned by Linux a couple of weeks ago. While testing the RTX 5090, he said he couldn't reveal much until the embargo was lifted. Now, with this new update, it seems like we will finally get to see how powerful the RTX 5090 really is in just a few days – without all that help from DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation.

PCMR shared an image on X showing the RTX 5090 placed on top of the RTX 4090. The image confirms that both cards are the same length, but the RTX 5090 is much slimmer. The RTX 4090 is 61mm thick, while the RTX 5090 is only 40mm. This is a big change in design – and something that was immediately apparent when Nvidia confirmed the new flagship is slimmed down for the Founders Edition.
Along with this, PCMR confirmed that the benchmark embargo is still in place. However, they also said we’ll have to wait for a ‘few more days,’ suggesting that the embargo might be lifted as early as this week.
What we know so far
For those who don’t know, the RTX 5090 reviews will reportedly go live nearly a week before RTX 5080. Both cards are currently scheduled to be released on January 30, so this week would be a good time for the 5090 reviews to go live. So far, we’ve seen that the RTX 5090 delivers double the FPS of the RTX 4090 in Cyberpunk 2077.
YouTuber PC Centric also tested Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K on the RTX 5090 with the graphical settings maxed out. With DLSS Multi Frame Generation, a feature exclusive to the RTX 50-series, and Ray Tracing fully enabled, they were getting around 280 FPS with 35 ms latency. The FPS dropped and increased as they adjusted the settings, but for the most part, the performance was incredible. We also saw some footage of Black Slate running on an RTX 5090 at 4K with the new Ray Tracing tech, and it looked stunning.
