It also clarifies that more compatibility details are coming soon, and it will provide more information on the subject, but it is a great leap forward for the hardware. 8BitDo offers a wide range of alternative controllers and other peripherals – we find their products of great quality and innovation, and I’ve even continued to use their Retro mechanical keyboard following my review of it earlier this year.
The Steam-compatible 8BitDo controllers
Below is the range of controllers that 8BitDo has now made compatible with Steam. Right now, it is the Ultimate 2 Wireless, Pro 2 Bluetooth, and SN30 Pro Bluetooth.
On their respective Amazon pages, the controllers have garnered a great range of review scores with thousands of ratings, so it’s safe to say that they are rather popular choices. Considering the 8BitDo post on X showcases the controllers alongside the Steam Deck, it’s clear they are targeting compatibility with Valve’s handheld device. This improved compatibility will come in handy choose to dock it or just want a more compact controller that is more comfortable for you.
8BitDo is also known for their range of alternative controllers, such as their recent ‘All-Button' arcade controllers – in other words, leverless fightsticks. We hope to see these get “fully optimized” for Steam, too, especially since it would make playing fighting games a whole lot more fun on a handheld like the Steam Deck.
