- LG C6 OLED TV (42-inch / 65-inch) – the full range of C6 OLED models is on offer this Prime Day, but we wanted to highlight the 42″ and 65″ variants as more versatile options, especially with the 42″ doubling up as a high-end 4K gaming monitor in some setups. The popular C-Series has long been a go-to pick during sales events, and this month is no different. Both models come with LG’s latest WOLED panel, OLED care technology, and the Alpha 11 Gen 3 processor.
- Sony Bravia 6 OLED (77-inch) – for a step up in size, another OLED option is the Sony Bravia 6, which has dropped to its lowest-ever price on Amazon during Prime Day sales. The impressive Sony television is currently 40% off for a limited time and features a 4K 120Hz panel, Google TV with Gemini support, and an immersive movie experience (with movies included as part of the Sony Pictures Core app).
- TCL Designer Series QLED (65-inch) – TCL remains a great option for the more budget-conscious buyers out there. The Designer TV model offers an excellent 65″ QLED 4K 144Hz panel for $849 during Prime Day. Much like Samsung’s ‘The Frame’ series, this TCL TV doubles as a digital art gallery, blending in as part of the home décor when your TV is not in use, if you like.
What to look for in a Prime Day TV deal
Display technology
Picture quality is usually your number-one concern when television shopping. OLED TVs generally offer the best contrast, with perfect blacks and excellent viewing angles, while QLED and Mini-LED models can get significantly brighter and are often better suited to brightly lit rooms. OLEDs are best suited for darker environments, though the latest models continue to improve panel brightness. 4K is the standard these days, but also consider HDR support such as Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HDR10+.
Size, streaming services, and sound quality
Make sure the TV runs a smart platform you’re comfortable using and supports the streaming services you actually watch. Built-in speakers can vary considerably, so budget for a soundbar if the TV has particularly weak audio. Think carefully about screen size and viewing distance before buying: a huge TV isn’t necessarily better if it overwhelms your room, while moving from a smaller 55-inch model to a 65-inch or 75-inch TV can make a much bigger difference to the viewing experience than some of the more minor specification upgrades.
Gaming features
If you’re a couch gamer, or are happy to use a 42-inch display with a desktop PC, gaming features should be considered. Modern game consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S offer up to 120Hz at 4K thanks to HDMI 2.1 support, so you might want to give cheaper 60Hz panels a pass. Some premium TVs also support 144Hz or higher refresh rates for PC gaming, and you should always consider how many ports are available to cater to however many devices you want to keep connected.
Is Prime Day a good time to buy a TV?
Yes, generally speaking, Prime Day is a great time to pick up a new TV – the same goes for other popular sales events on Amazon, such as Black Friday (coming up next month). Unlike lots of PC hardware, which has skyrocketed, TV prices have largely remained quite stable. We’ve seen some of the best deals come to popular mid-range models, as well as budget options. We always recommend checking the product’s price history before you buy, though, which is why we like to highlight many deals that drop prices down to their all-time low on Amazon.
