Major tech events like CES and Computex often come with updates about upcoming CPUs, GPUs, and other hardware components. One of the major points of discussion and speculation was NVIDIA's next lineup of GPUs – the RTX 50 series (codenamed “Blackwell”).
So far, there have been several speculations that place the release window in late 2024 to sometime in 2025. And a new leak from a fairly accurate source says that we might see the Blackwell GPUs at the next CES, which takes place in early January next year.
Leaker says RTX 50 will be released in 2025
According to kopite7kimi on X, NVIDIA might not launch the RTX 50 graphic cards this year. The post on X says, “I think we won’t see RTX 50 until CES,” – meaning the GPUs won't make an appearance until January of next year. To be specific, the event is scheduled for January 7th to 10th, yet again in Las Vegas according to the official CES website.
This release window is in line with the rumored RTX 5090D launch. Earlier this month, there were rumors about a China-exclusive Nvidia RTX 5090D releasing in early 2025. So, it is possible that we will see the global iterations of the RTX 50 cards around the same time.
Is there any chance it could launch in 2025?
There are several speculations that suggest an earlier release date. For example, a leak about RTX 5090's TDP from Seasonic's power supply calculator suggested that we'd see the GPU series released in October 2024.
Further, the Chinese hardware website UDN has been consistently predicting that the RTX 50 series will be rolled out at the end of this year. However, it should be noted that release dates, prices, and specs are always subject to change. NVIDIA may change its roadmap at any given moment, so take these rumors with a grain of salt.
In addition to NVIDIA, AMD and Intel are also expected to release their next GPU line-up in 2025. If the RTX 50 series is slated to be released in 2025, it means that we may not see any next generation of GPU this year.
In any case, we have a major CPU launch, the Ryzen 9000 series, coming up in just over a week, which is more than sufficient to keep tech fans hooked for now.
