What Does Windows 11 Home license key include?
Windows 11 Home includes the following new features:
- A new aesthetic design: Microsoft has gone further with their Fluent Design System philosophy with Windows 11, incorporating greater use of translucency, color, and subtle animations to help focus the attention of the user, plus a cleaner look overall and more rounded edges to windows etc. as in MacOS. The taskbar and Start Menu remain but are centered, in a similar fashion to Chrome OS. The ‘Settings’ menu and other menu areas have been made easier to navigate, with a consistent side-menu bar.
- Snap Layouts: You can now set up different default window layouts that your applications will automatically snap to: either 50:50, 60:40, 50:25:25, 25:25:25:25, or (if your screen is big enough) divided into three equal windows.
- Widget board: You can now enable a widget board that you can customize to show your favourite news/weather/stock market sources or other data points
- Greater efficiencies: Although there aren’t any major improvements in processing performance, Windows 11 is more energy efficient overall, meaning longer battery duration for laptops and tablets, plus has smaller updates overall: around 40% smaller download sizes.
- Better tablet & docking support: There are now fewer differences between how the operating system works on a desktop/laptop and a tablet device like the Microsoft Surface. Additions include new three-finger swipe actions, better voice typing, and haptic and audio feedback for the new Surface Slim Pen 2. Docking support is also improved, with the act of plugging in a monitor no-longer disrupting the window layout on your desktop.
- Improved default apps: Many of the classic apps you’d expect to get with a Windows release have been given visual makeovers along with additional features. This includes Clock, Notepad, Mail, Media Player, Paint, Photos, and more.
- Android app support: Android apps are now downloadable (both free and paid for) via the Amazon Appstore, and you can run them on your Windows desktop.
- An improved Microsoft Store: The Microsoft Store has had a complete organizational revamp, making for a much nicer user experience.
- Improved security features.
Windows 11 and gaming: the best team
Windows 11 has numerous features that are a boon to gamers, plus brings better efficiencies with Intel 12th gen CPUs onwards, thanks to its greater support of the p&e core architecture of these processors. Realistically, in terms of in-game FPS, most Windows 11 users won’t notice much uplift compared to Windows 10, but there are various new tweakable settings for graphics, storage, and power efficiency. The main ones are as follows:
- Auto HDR: A feature originally on Xbox Series X/S, this automatically upgrades the color and brightness of SDR games for HDR displays.
- DirectStorage: Improves game load times for NVMe SSD drives.
- Dynamic Lighting: Allows control of RGB lighting directly from Windows.
- Optimization for windowed games: Improves performance and lowers latency when gaming in windowed mode.
- Task Manager efficiency mode: Allows you to better limit how much resources specific programs can use, such as when gaming for example and you want to minimize the impact of background processes.
- Better integration of Xbox Game Pass.
- Controller bar: Allows for quick access to games using an Xbox controller.

Windows 11 Home Download
If you’re upgrading an existing version of Windows then simply navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates and click the link to download Windows 11 from there.
If you’re installing Windows 11 Home from scratch onto a blank PC then you’ll have to download the ISO file either from the Windows website or from the email you’ll receive from Mr Key Shop and install it into a USB stick on a separate device (more on this below).
Install Windows 11 Home
The actual installation of Windows 11 Home is straightforward, but the key thing is to make sure you’ve done all the necessary preparations beforehand:
- Ensure your PC is compatible with the Windows 11 Home system requirements (listed above).
- Back up your existing files and data onto a separate drive.
- If you’re installing Windows 11 on a completely clean device with no existing operating system, you’ll need to create a bootable Windows 11 USB drive. First, download the Windows Media Creation Tool onto a separate device and install the ISO file onto the USB drive that you will receive from your Mr Key Shop email. Stick this into your new computer, boot it up, and follow the steps of the installation wizard.
- If you’re upgrading from an existing version of Windows then read the ‘How to activate’ section below.
- Once the installation is complete, make sure you install any relevant drivers (under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates) and restart your PC when asked to do so.
How to activate Windows 11 Home
To activate Windows 11 Home with the activation key, from the Start Menu simply go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Update product key > Change product key, then enter your key.
How to activate Windows 11 Home without product key
As mentioned, if you already have Windows 10 installed then you won’t need a Windows 11 product key, all you need to do is go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates, then select the Windows 11 download.
There are alternative and less legal ways to activate the operating system for free using KMS servers, cmd, activator, and batch files, however, when a genuine activation is available at this reasonable price, it’s not worth the risk.
How to upgrade Windows 11 Home to Pro with a product key
The process of upgrading from Windows 11 Home to Pro is pretty straightforward, though before you do so it’s wise to make sure that you have taken a full backup of your important data, just in case you run into any issues.
All you have to do is navigate to Settings > Activation > Change product key then enter your new Windows 11 Pro product key into the box (you don’t need to include the hyphens). The installation of the new OS should then begin.
As a perfect companion to Windows, you might consider buying and activate Office 2021, this way you can enjoy all the improvements to the popular productivity suite inside a modern and better-performing operating environment.
