Issues with supply have plagued the entire Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series lineup so far. According to one YouTuber, the problem goes even further this time, leading to accusations of a ‘paper launch'.
Those wanting to buy an RTX 5060 Ti might have noticed that this task was extremely difficult. Icons proclaiming the model was sold out peppered every online retailer. Even many physical stores were lacking in supply. According to YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead, there is a reason for this.
Some retailers reportedly didn’t receive any GPUs
Moore's Law is Dead or MLID has long been a reporter of industry insider information. In a recent video, he spoke on reports he had received from his contacts in the retail sector, who told him that supplies of the RTX 5060 Ti were so limited that some retailers had not received a single graphics card.
“I have to admit that reviewers and tech analysts like myself throw around the term ‘paper launch a lot,” MLID said in his video, “however, today with the RTX 5060 Ti, we might be closer than ever before to literally having a paper launch. Whether Nvidia wants to admit it or not.”
Sources consulted by MLID were clear on the supply issues. Once source from a major online retailer said that they have yet to receive any RTX 5060 Ti cards, and are unlikely to receive any for over a week. He was also told that these initial shipments would include few, if any, 8GB models. Reviews for 8GB cards have also been hard to come by, though we did eventually get to see some 16GB and 8GB comparisons thanks to one reviewer.
A second source from a major US retailer with a number of brick-and-mortar stores said: “There's been zero 5060 Ti's delivered to our location. As far as I can tell, after reaching out to colleagues at other locations, most of them received zero as well. We don't expect to receive any for a week.”
MLID said that some retailers were listing models as ‘sold out' even though they had never arrived in the warehouses. This information is obtained from leaks and not from official sources, but if it is accurate, it seems that Nvidia launched the RTX 5060 Ti at least a week too soon.
