We’re starting off our RAM reviews with quite the piece of kit. Just by the name alone, the Corsair Dominator Titanium brings quite a grandiose setting, along with the design and features that match. But being some of the top DDR5 memory it has to have the performance and spec behind it to match its looks. This particular set has 64GB of capacity split between two 32GB sticks and is capable of clocking at 6600MT/s but that can vary between setups as we found in our testing.

Either way, DDR5 has become quite a strong standard of memory to go for as AMD adopted it for its AM5 CPUs compared to Intel offering both DDR4 and 5 across its motherboards. But it is the more obvious option if you want the speed and latest technology to take advantage of for your next build. So let’s see what these DDR5 sticks can do.

What We Think

Corsair’s Dominator Titanium RGB 64GB 6600MT/s DDR5 RAM is certainly a premium solution to your memory needs. It has plenty of capacity and speed but comes at quite an elevated cost for the pleasure. It does at least bring something different and new. With metal plates adorning both sides for a quality feel and temperature-controlling solution that brings up the price. But also offers up some personalization to it, as you can swap out the top with other solutions or your own 3D-printed selection. Overall, that makes the RAM a more top-of-the-ladder pick for a more look-orientated build rather than the top-value option.

Reasons to Buy
  • Impressive personalization capabilities for replacing the tops
  • Potential to overclock above advertised spec
  • Great look and design of the modules
Reasons to Avoid
  • Comes at an expensive premium compared to same-spec alternatives
  • Has a high latency

Design

The Corsair kit is definitely a more uniquely designed option. The particular set we had on hand is already a more uncommon color option as it goes for a white design, in a market where you’ll find just predominantly black components. But for those seeking an all-white gaming PC build, it might be just the right consideration where they come at a bit of a premium.

Covered by two simple plates on either side, the metal casing of the memory is a rather premium feeling option that also has cooling in mind. But there is a handy little extra on these, as there are two screws on each side you can undo. That allows you to take off the top chunk of the RAM and replace it with any other module you want.

By default, they come with RGB diffuser strips as the colorful choice. In our first edition, there is an included heat spreader instead that turns off the lights and color, enabling simplicity and comes with a screwdriver to help you work it. However, you’re not just limited to what comes in the box, as Corsair provides a template for these installations and you can in fact print your own. So if you’ve got a handy 3D printer, you can design or download your own to give it that bit of personalization.

Beware if you do have a tower CPU cooler though, as you might find some clearance issues if it overlaps the memory slots at all. You can always go for something more horizontal than vertical but with the aesthetics that the Dominator Titanium opts for it’s probably best combined with an AIO cooler.

These heavy modules also serve the purpose of cooling the RAM as well. Being metal plates, they spread out the heat of the components to be carried away by your system’s cooling. Even more important to keep that performance up, and they certainly get toasty as we found out in our testing of them.

Price

For the cost of the memory, it’s not exactly the cheapest option out there. The white Dominator Titanium First Edition 64GB 6600MT/s is available for $338.99 from Corsair’s store but can be seen on Amazon for under $300. There is also a $19 premium for the First Edition so you can find some savings there, but that still is quite the premium price for the specs it offers.

As it is the more top-end choice of memory, and not the best value if you’re going for pure speed and specs. Even the likes of the Corsair Vengeance with 64GB 6600MHz can be found for lower than that. But that is a bit more simple in design, so it comes down to if you’re going for looks or pure specs.

Performance

We put the Corsair RAM to the test alongside two other models, including the Corsair Vengeance 6400, and Trident Z5 Neo 6000. These two only had 32GB of capacity and a lower speed, which also lowered the speed of the Dominator which we didn’t pick up till after testing but the graphs reflect that. Below you can find the testing setup we used for the different RAM tests.

Starting off with the gaming benchmarks, we compared the performance of Cyberpunk 2077 and F1 23. There we see just a couple of FPS differences between each set if there are any at all. Most of these can come down to run-to-run changes or errors that don’t really surmount anything.

As for the other workloads, there are just a few percent differences between the different memory models as well. Primarily the Corsair Dominator Titanium and Trident Z5 do exchange leads in the difference scenarios. 3DMarks CPU profile does best to showcase the RAM and there the Dominators also lead.

Cinebench’s and Blender’s CPU benchmarks also lead even if it’s a few points ahead. It also applies to the HandBrake rendering software, looking at processor encoding the Dominators take less time and average a couple of FPS more. AIDA does however show the latency does drag higher for the sets while they do fall behind in speeds than the other tested models.

Final word

Overall, the Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB is a more premium option for DDR5 RAM. It does cost you a bit extra to get it, but offers a bit of a different and innovative feature. With the replaceable tops, you can personalize the modules to your liking and suit a nicer and cleaner PC build. It’s not the best value memory outright for the performance but certainly still has the right price for those who see it there. Although being a Corsair product you do also have to put up with iCUE.
