The PSVR2 Sense Controllers look different from the PS MOVE Controllers and offer more exciting features with a fun experience. The PS MOVE and PSVR original can both work with Sony’s listed VR games. However, the question is which is better and compatible with PSVR2.

Continue reading below to learn more about the PS MOVE Controllers’ compatibility with the PSVR2.

PSVR2 PlayStation Move Compatability

Unfortunately, the PlayStation MOVE controller is not workable with the PSVR2, as officially confirmed by Sony on its website. The only controllers currently that can work with the PSVR2 are the original Sense controllers, which are the DualSense controllers. Sony has even confirmed that the latest PS controller released in January 2022, DualSense Edge, is usable with the PSVR 2.

However, it must be noted that each game will have its own compatibility. Therefore, you must keep that in mind while checking the compatibility of the particular game with the PSVR2. Remember that the Sense controllers and the headset will not be usable with a PS4, as officially confirmed by Sony in a podcast.

Compatibility of the PS MOVE

Currently, the PS MOVE is only compatible with PS3 and PS4. If you have a PS4 camera, you may still connect it to your PS5 with the help of an adapter. You can even use a USB cable to connect the PS MOVE to your PS5 system.

Moreover, as officially confirmed by Sony, PSVR2 does not support backward compatibility. So, even PSVR titles cannot properly work with the PSVR2. The PSVR2 is specifically a next-generation experience.

Does a PSVR2 Require a TV Screen Turned on While Using it?

Turning the TV screen on while playing games using your PSVR2 isn’t necessary. However, while pairing the PSVR2 with the PS5, you must turn on the screen and follow the easy processing for pairing and connecting your PSVR. Once paired and all set to go, you can turn off the TV screen. Even the PS menu will display on your PSVR headset without a TV screen.

Sony uses a UI for the PSVR2 similar to the UI of a PS5 when using a TV screen. But minor optimizations will still be needed when viewing the UI through the PSVR2 headset. This optimization has the layout for sections like the Control Centre and Create Menu font rendering for their optimization and notification display positions.

However, playing on a TV screen would allow you to easily switch between PSVR2 and PS5 games.

Are the PS MOVE Controllers Compatible With the Original PSVR?

Yes, all the versions of PS MOVE work fine with the PSVR, including even the PS3 MOVE. The PS3 MOVE controllers are said to be the same as the PS4 MOVE controllers. Since both PS MOVE and PSVR have similar-level technologies, that is why their compatibility is possible. However, in the case of PSVR2, it uses advanced technology to provide a next-generation fun experience. Therefore, due to technological clash, you cannot pair the PS MOVE with a PSVR2.

Conclusion

THE PS MOVE compatibility with the original PSVR is possible. However, they are not compatible with the latest PSVR2 headset. It is apparent that as technology advances and a particular hardware update is released, it becomes nearly impossible to be compatible with its predecessor. You can still pair the PS DualSense Edge controller with the PSVR2 since it is Sony’s latest release.
