Jimmy Apples, known for providing accurate early information about OpenAI, said this was probably an “accidental typo.” This seems likely given the nature and scope of the campus service, and it would be unusual for OpenAI to provide external access to its latest model before an official announcement.
Reddit post on r/ChatGPT
On the same day, a Reddit post in the r/ChatGPT subreddit appeared, showing details drawn from what it said was a cached search in Bing using the DuckDuckGo engine. The search returned the OpenAI blog address at openai.com/blog/gpt4.5-turbo. The meta showed that GPT-4.5 Turbo would surpass the current model with a much larger 256k context window and improved speed and accuracy. Attempts to access the blog post now return a 404 error. Meanwhile, a further post on X surfaced the source code of the webpage, providing additional context to the post:
