To help you out, we’ve put together a list of all the best retailers where you can buy the X3D chip in the US, UK, and Canada on release.

The 9850X3D is essentially a refreshed version of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D – widely known as the best CPU for gaming. Can you pre order the Ryzen 7 9850X3D?

Much like other CPU launches, there is no official pre-order period for the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, and we expect wide availability to go live on January 29 without any prior sales or special offers. We did, however, spot it available for purchase on Amazon US shortly after the release date and price were announced by AMD. In the days ahead of launch, many retailers simply offer a sign-up for email notifications.

As we said earlier, one person online reported getting theirs early from a reseller in their region (Switzerland). However, this is likely a mistake from the seller, rather than any kind of pre-order bonus or a similar offer.

How much does the Ryzen 7 9850X3D cost?

AMD has announced the 9850X3D will have an MSRP of $499. This is $20 more than the 9800X3D’s official launch price, and at the time of writing, $30 more expensive than most current 9800X3D listings you’ll find in the US. As for the United Kingdom and Canada, official pricing is yet to be made apparent by local retailers – Overclockers UK still has a placeholder £12,000 price tag, for example. For reference, the 9800X3D currently retails for around £399 (GBP) and $639 (CAD), respectively.

What time will the Ryzen 7 9850X3D release?

An exact release time rarely gets confirmed by AMD, and this is the same for the 9850X3D. However, an early leak from French retailer LDLC suggests the new X3D processor will go live across online retailers at 3 PM local time (CET). That means 2 PM in the UK, and for the other side of the pond, 6 AM Pacific Time (PST) and 9 AM Eastern Time (EST). In our experience covering new CPUs and GPUs from AMD, this release time seems likely based on what we’ve seen in most previous hardware launches.
