When will Black Friday DDR5 RAM deals start in 2023?

Black Friday is officially slated for November 24th. However, as has been customary over the past couple of years at least, the deals tend to roll out a little earlier than this, especially at the larger retailers mentioned in our guide so far. As DDR5 is still relatively new, there’s no exact pricing to discern when’s the right time to pull the trigger, although, discounts are happening now.

Black Friday itself will house the largest DDR5 RAM deals, so we recommend waiting for the date itself unless you see something particularly aggressive in a lightning deal or flash offer from another retailer ahead of schedule.

Last year’s best Black Friday DDR5 RAM deals

There wasn’t a huge amount of DDR5 RAM deals on sale last year, however, these were the deepest discounts that we were able to verify on all manner of the latest models from Teamgroup, Crucial, and more. We’re hoping for a more encouraging portrait to be painted this time around.

How to get the best Black DDR5 RAM deals in 2023?

You can get the best Black Friday DDR5 RAM deals by keeping your shopping options open and learning which pricing history is available. Chances are that if Amazon and Newegg have a comparable deal, then contrasting them together should get you the best price. Using Honey and CamelCamelCamel browser extensions gives you extensive histories over who has held the best offers.

Keeping competitive about where you shop, and not taking up the first impulse offer can yield some of the better discounts. It’s always worth checking around on a particular DDR5 RAM module so that you’re confident in your decision. No one wants to be shortchanged on the day when they could have got the best discounts available.

What to consider when looking for Black Friday DDR5 RAM deals

Capacity

DDR5 RAM generally follows four major capacity types. These are 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. Generally speaking, you can either opt for single or dual-channel kits. Most motherboards support up to 128GB max capacity depending on the manufactuer.

Clock speed

DDR5 memory is a much higher capacity than what we saw with the previous generation. Clock speeds can go as fast as 6000MHz and above depending on the model. As the hardware evolves, and companies become more familiar with the tech, we expect prices to be lower and speeds to be consistently quick.

Price

DDR5 is more expensive than DDR4, that’s just a fact. However, the rates are coming down considerably from what we saw since the release. Black Friday has poised itself as the best time to invest in the new for less. It’s now possible to find DDR5 kits well under $100, with the higher-end models frequently flying under the $300 mark.

Black Friday DDR5 RAM deals FAQs

Here are the answers to the questions we hear most often:

  • Is DDR5 RAM worth the upgrade: DDR5 memory is considerably faster than DDR4 and will become the new standard for memory modules on the PC platform for the next couple of years at the very least. If you want to futureproof your machine or get the best gaming performance possible then upgrading to DDR5 RAM for PCIe compatibility has you covered.
  • Is DDR5 RAM worth the price: We think so. It’s more expensive than DDR4, but for the difference it makes and the futureproofing potential, we think it’s worth the cost.
