This MSI Codex Z2 is outstanding value right now at Newegg, with a hefty $500 discount dropping its price from $1,699.00 to $1,199.00, which is its lowest in 30 days, too. What you’ve got here is the impressive, but budget-friendly, RTX 5060 Ti 8GB paired with the Ryzen 7 8700F. This is a very strong combo for 1080p and 1440p gaming, and also gives you something that’s a bit more versatile than your typical, cost-effective configurations, thanks to the 8700F’s decent core and thread count. This build also features 16GB of DDR5 and a large 2TB SSD, which is great if you’re planning on building a hefty gaming library. Overall, for the price, this gaming PC brings a lot to the table, and we think it’s well worth checking out if you’re looking for something wallet-friendly but still punchy when it comes to performance.

Key features of this MSI Codex Z2 RTX 5060 Ti gaming PC

RAM and storage

This PC goes for a curiously modest amount of DDR5 and a large SSD, which makes sense in some respects, but we’d probably have it the other way round in all honesty. Either way, 16GB of DDR5 is very much in line with the type of usage the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB is designed for, which is likely to be high refresh rate FHD gaming and lighter creative work. In this case, 16GB is more than enough. It features 2TB of storage, which is on the larger side, and will give you a lot of room to work with, easily holding over 15 large AAA games while still giving you enough space for other files. If you’re someone who doesn’t really want to worry about running out of space, then this 2TB SSD is a win.

RTX 5060 Ti graphics card

If you want something a bit more punchy for FHD and QHD, the RTX 5060 Ti is going to be one of the best GPUs to go for. It has a slightly high CUDA core count and a higher TDP of 180W, but still has the same 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM as the RTX 5060 base model. It also features 5th-gen tensor cores and 4th-gen ray tracing cores, which are both significantly more powerful than some of the competitor cards at this price point, which makes it a superior choice from a performance perspective. Its boosted AI capabilities also allow it to work with MFG, which can enhance perceived fps and can be very useful when playing games at higher settings and resolutions. For creatives, it’s also not too bad, especially if you’re going to be using it for lighter creative workflows, rather. NVIDIA Broadcast and 9th Gen NVIDIA encoders are big wins here for the price, and make this a solid card for content creators who are sticking to a budget.

Ryzen 7 8700F processor

Even though it’s not quite as recognizable as some of the other Ryzen processors on the market, the Ryzen 7 8700F is a bit of a powerhouse that flies under the radar, delivering brilliant performance and helping keep overall build costs more affordable. It’s often found paired with the RTX 5060, RTX 5060 Ti, and RTX 5070, and features a boost clock speed of 5GHz, 16MB L3 cache, low TDP of 65W, 8 cores, and 16 threads. This all adds up to something solid for 1080p and 1440p gaming, but also has decent multitasking abilities that make it good for anything from streaming, running background applications like Discord, handling multiple heavy-duty applications, and more. Not only that, but it’s an AM5 model, which means that if you’re looking to upgrade in the future, you won’t necessarily need to swap out your motherboard to do so.

Things to consider

For the price, this makes a lot of sense, in all honesty, so the only real question is whether you want to spend more and go for an RTX 5070 model instead. There are a few reasons you may want to explore these, one of them being that MSI models tend to be pretty affordable, some of which can hover around the $1,400 when discounted. You’re going to be getting much better QHD performance with an RTX 5070, and better handling of creative workloads, too, but without being overkill. Take a look at our top gaming PC deals below to see what else is out there, and I’d highly recommend looking at MSI’s other Ryzen 7 8700F, RTX 5070 prebuilds for great value picks.
