This MSI Codex Z2 gaming PC has been reduced by $250 at Newegg, and is now down from $1,499.00 to $1,249.00, which is a solid price given what you’re getting here. You’ve got the RTX 5060 paired with the Ryzen 7 8700F and 16GB of DDR5 in this build. This is a good combination if you’re after excellent FHD performance at very high fps, but also want a PC that’s quite adept at multitasking and handling content creation workflows. On top of this, it also features a large 2TB SSD, which is great for the price. At under $1,250, this PC is essentially a higher-end RTX 5060 build, but considering the processor’s core count, its DDR5 RAM, and overall build quality and design, we think it’s a great price and well worth considering.

Key features of this MSI Codex Z2 RTX 5060 gaming PC

Ryzen 7 8700F processor

This processor is a decent option for those who want high-fps gaming at 1080p and 1440p, as well as decent multitasking and workstation capabilities. It has a 5GHz boost clock speed and 16MB L3 cache, 8 cores, and 16 threads. For streaming, recording footage, and running ground applications like Discord, it’s a capable CPU. It’s also well-suited for applications like Premiere Pro and Photoshop, which typically use multiple cores and threads for faster editing, exporting, and rendering speeds.

RTX 5060 graphics card

The RTX 5060 is one of the best graphics cards you can get if you’re looking for something affordable from the 50-series lineup, which is very capable for FHD, high refresh rate gaming. If you’re into esports, in particular, then this is a very good graphics card to go for. It features faster, high-bandwidth GDDR7 VRAM, coming in at 8GB. While it’s always better to have around 16GB, for fast-paced FHD gaming, this is all good. It also has 4th-gen ray tracing cores and 5th-gen tensor cores, the latter of which powers everything from MFG upscaling to accelerating generative AI workflows, which can come in handy if you’re using this card for video and photo editing.

RAM and storage

The Ryzen 7 8700F supports DDR5, so it’s great to see 16GB of DDR5 in this build, as it’s not always the case. This is enough RAM to help keep your system running very smoothly, and should help you hit high fps in-game, too. It also features a large 2TB SSD, which is also a cut above many of your standard RTX 5060 prebuilds. This gives you enough room for a hefty gaming library, but also gives you space for other files, too.

Things to consider

At this price, you may want to consider RTX 5060 Ti 8GB prebuilds, which will have better QHD performance, as they have higher CUDA core counts. It’s also well worth considering an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB model, too, as these are really the ‘lower-end’ 50-series prebuilds that make the most sense for the money, at least in my opinion. Having 16GB of VRAM gives you a lot more flexibility with modern AAA games and new releases, allowing you to play more than just esports titles. It also gives you way more VRAM to handle more demanding creative workflows, like complex, multilayered video editing and working in 3D. When discounted, these usually hover around $1,500, so be sure to check out our top deals below to see what’s out there.
