Laptops with an RTX 5090 are heading our way soon, and we’re excited to see what they bring to the table. Now information on these laptops is a little spotty at best, and unlike RTX 5090 gaming PCs or even the AIB models of the card itself, there’s not a whole lot of listings to go by. However, there is some information out there which can give us an idea of what to expect. Of course, performance speaking, we’ll have to wait to get our hands-on the laptops ourselves.

Featuring the new RTX 5090 mobile GPU, these laptops are set to boast impressive improvements over the previous RTX 4090 offerings, with major brands refreshing their existing lines to make way for the new card.

Best RTX 5090 laptops we’ve spotted so far

ASUS

ASUS is one of the best brands for gaming laptops out there, and it has a number of different lines that cater to different requirements. There are currently four laptops listed on the site itself that are not available to purchase just yet.

  • ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2025)
  • ROG Strix SCAR 16 (2025)
  • ROG Zephyrus G16 (2025) – white
  • ROG Zephyrus G16 (2025) – black
Specifications
  • GPU: RTX 5090
  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 HX
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5
  • Storage: 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD
  • Display: 18″ 2.5K (2560 x 1600, WQXGA) 16:10 240Hz ROG Nebula HDR Display
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro

First up is the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR, which comes in both 18″ and 16″ variations. Alongside the RTX 5090, this lapytop features the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HZ processor. The CPU has a total of 24 cores (8 performance, 16 efficient), 24 threads, a max turbo frequency of 5.4 GHz, 36M Cache and a TDP of 55 W.

This CPU benefits from some of the advancements made in the Core Ultra series, which essentially equate to better efficiency and more space saved. As expected, the TDP sort of pails in comparison to desktop processors, but that’s the standard setup when it comes to most laptops.

When it comes to the screen itself, you’re getting a 2.5K display, with 240hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3. That’s an excellent combination for consuming media, but also design and creative work. Of course, for gaming, it also means you’ll be able to play at higher frames-per-second.

It terms of storage and RAM, you’re getting 2TB and 32GB of DDR5. This should be pretty standard with most RTX 5090 laptops, so nothing too out of the ordinary here.

Some of the standout features of this laptop include a welcome upgrade to a 1080p webcam, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and new 360 degree lightbar that surrounds the base of the laptop. Of course, there’s a stealth mode too, should you want to use this in a more professional environment.

Overall, we think this is going to be one of the best RTX 5090 laptops on the market. No release date just yet, but at least we have a price. Currently, it is listed as $4,199.99 on Best Buy, which is around the same price as some of the RTX 5090 pre-builts we’ve come across too from the likes of Skytech.

Specifications
  • GPU: RTX 5090
  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 285H
  • Display: 16″ 2.5K (2560 x 1600, WQXGA) 16:10 240Hz OLED ROG Nebula Display
  • Storage: 2TB M.2 NVMe™ PCIe® 4.0 SSD storage
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro
  • RAM: 64GB DDR5

The ROG Zephyrus is a more of a ‘do-it-all’ type of offering from ASUS, and is great for people who want to game, use it for creative work, or general productivity.

The CPU this time around is the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H, which has a 24MB Cache, up to 5.4 GHz max turbo frequency, 16 cores and 16 threads. This isn’t quite as punchy as the Strix option earlier, and yet again we’re seeing an Intel processor instead of anything AMD. That’s a slight downer, especially as the recent AMD processors have impressed – which hasn’t always been the case with Intel’s latest batches.

You’ve got 64GB of RAM here, with a big 2TB SSD, which should equate to a pretty smooth experience while using it. Interestingly when it comes to the display, unlike the Strix, it’s glossy…and OLED.

OLED displays are great if you want your games or movies to look more lifelike, but they’re not always the best in brighter environments. For designers, it’s great, and they’ll also be happy to know that its DCI-P3 100% and Pantone Validated too.

It also boasts a similar 240hz refresh rate with Nvidia G-sync, which is great for fast-paced, screen-tear free gaming.

On top of all this, you’ve got Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, a 1080p webcam, and vaper chamber cooling. It’s also super slim and weighs in at just 4.30lbs.

Overall, we think this laptop is going to be popular choice when it’s released, however, there’s still no sight of the price just yet.

Acer

Acer is set to release two RTX 5090 laptops, the Acer Predator Helios 18 AI and smaller Acer Predator Helios 16 AI. Right now, I can only see the Predator Helios 18 AI on its site, but this will likely change in the very near future.

Specifications
  • GPU: RTX 5090
  • CPU: Up to Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
  • Storage: Up to 6TB PCIe Gen5 SSD (M.2 3 slots)
  • RAM: Up to 192GB DDR5 6400MHz (4 slots)
  • Display : Mini LED, 4K, 120hz refresh rate with DCI-P3 100% and Nvidia G-Sync
  • OS: Windows 11 Home

The Acer Predator Helios 18 AI is very similar to the ASUS ROG Strix we saw earlier, and looks to be tailored more towards those using it for gaming. On the CPU front, you’re getting an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, which is the same as the Strix, that boasts an impressive 36M Cache, and up to 5.40 GHz turbo frequency. Again, no sight of an AMD processor!

Things differ a little when it comes to the display though. Rather than 2.5 resolution, this laptop ops for 4K at 120hz, and features DCI-p3 100% color gamut. That’s good for anyone interested in gaming in higher resolution, and for those who may want to use this for design or watching content too. The good news is that you can lower the resolution and play in up to 240hz – excellent if you fancy a bit of Warzone on the go for instance. The screen is OLED which always makes us think it won’t be too bright, however, the good news is that this is said to have up to 1000 nits brightness – but take this with a pinch of salt as Acer could be referring to peak brightness in a very small area of the screen.

When it comes to cooling, Acer claim that the new 3D fan technology is the world’s thinnest, featuring blades that are just 0.05mm thick. They also rise and adapt at higher speeds, which according to them increases airflow by 20%. That’s pretty impressive, but we may have to see for ourselves as to whether it can keep things cooler than vapor chamber options.

In terms of space, this Helios 18 can go as high as 192GB of RAM and a massive 6 TB of PCLe Gen 5 storage. That’s enormous, and really makes this laptop stand out from the crowd. The smaller Helios 16 AI can also support up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB, which again, is more than enough for most people.

Add all this to Wi-Fi 7, various high-speed Thunderbolt 5 ports, and dynamic RGB lighting, and we think this is going to be a real winner on release.

Lenovo

Lenovo look to be sending a few RTX 50-series laptops our way this year, and we’d say the standout of these would be the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i, which supports up to an RT 5090.

Specifications
  • GPU: Up to RTX 5090
  • CPU: Up to Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
  • Storage: Up to 2TB SSD
  • RAM: Up to 64GB DDR5 RAM
  • Display: OLED, 2560 x 1600 pixels

This laptop is unique particularly unique when it comes to its impressive vapor chamber cooling, which enables up to 250W TDP. On top of that, it also boasts an AI engine (Lenovo AI Engine+), that dynamically adjusts the CPU and GPU wattage to maximize performance.

As expected it also supports up to the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, which is a common theme with these RTX 5090 laptops, and can have up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM too.

We’re getting another OLED screen here, with up to a 240hz refresh rate, and 500 nits of brightness. Resolution is WQXGA (which is 2560 x 1600 pixels, so 2.5K essentially), which makes this a good option for those who think 4K is a little overkill, or perhaps don’t fancy paying for the premium. 500 nit brightness may not seem like too much, but considering that it’s almost double the brightness of your more standard monitors, we still think it’ll be good enough in even well-lit environments.

This laptop also features customizable per-key RGB in addition to a 4-key switchable keycap set. In terms of aesthetics, Lenovo doesn’t typically go too wild with its design, and this is the case with this machine too. That’s good if you’re planning on using this in a work environment or office.

There’s no price on this just yet, but based on the earlier RTX 4090 Gen 10 version which starts at $2,564.99, we’d predict this likely to be around $2800 and above for a RTX 5090 version.

MSI

MSI RTX 50-series line up
RTX 50-series laptop line-up – source MSI

MSI are one of the best brands when it comes to gaming laptops, and offer a wide range of different lines to choose from. It looks like it will be sending out some RTX 5090 laptops into the market soon.

MSI will be releasing a number of high-performance laptops with 50-series GPUs, and both Intel and AMD processors. Unsurprisingly, the higher performance laptops will pack the Intel Core Ultra 200HX and 200H CPUS, which are said to boost performance by over 15% compared to their predecessors.

There’s also an introduction of a new cooling thermal design, featuring an innovative SSD pope that reduces the max temperature of the PCLe Gen 5 SSD by up to 10°C. That’s a big win for performance, especially under more demanding workloads, but also for gaming too.

It looks like the Titan, Raider, Vector, and Stealth Series are all going get a refresh, and will be able to host the powerful RTX 5090. As with the Legion Pro 7i, we’re seeing an emphasis on upping the TDP for better performance. In this case, it’s MSI’s OverBoost Ultra Technology, which can deliver up to 270W for the Titan Series, and 260W for the Vector and Raider series.

From what we’ve seen on MSI’s site, it looks like the Stealth is the only RTX 5090 laptop getting an OLED display, while the Titan, Raider, and Vector all get Mini-LED. Here’s a list of the MSI laptops that you can get the RTX 5090 in so far.

  • Titan 18 HX AI A2XWJG
  • Raider 18 HX AI A2XWJG
  • Raider A18 HX A9WJG
  • Stealth 18 HX AI A2XWJG
  • Stealth A18 AI+ A3XWJG
  • Vector 17 HX AI A2XWJG
  • Stealth A16 AI+ A3XWJG

We’re not seeing any listings so far from MSI, but we’re certainly excited about these – in particular the Titan series, which looks to be leading the pack.

Razer

The new Razer Blade 16 – source Razer

Razer announced a new Blade 16 that’s been redesigned to be even thinner than before, coming in at just a 0.59-inch profile at its thinnest point. It’s set to host the RTX 5090 GPU, and on top of that, it also seems to breaking away from other brands’ choice of processors, instead going for AMD RYzen AI 9 CPUs instead. This will be a first for Razer, with the Razer Blade 16 featuring an Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with 12 cores/ 24 threads. It also has a powerful NPU which can get up to 50 TOPS, for those planning on using AI tools.

In terms of the display, you’re getting a QHD, 240hz, OLED monitor, with 0.2ms response time, surrounded by a thin 4.7mm bezel. All in all, that’s a great combination for practically any type of usage.

We haven’t seen too much in the way of listing right now, so we’re still holding on for the price. Based on the RTX 4090 model of the Razer Blade 16, we’d estimate this will come in around $3500 – $4000. It’s said to be heading our way in Q1, so stay tuned.

Alienware

Source: Alienwarearena

A while back at CES 2025, we saw reports of a new line of gaming laptops from Alienware heading our way. The new (or resurrected) Area-51 gaming laptops come in both 18-inch and 16-inch variations, and will feature up to the RTX 5090 GPU, plus a whole host of advanced cooling and its signature style – liquid teal coloring in according to the spec sheets. CPU options are the impressive Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 275HX, and it looks like the screen will be a QHD+ display. At its largest, it comes in at almost 10lbs, which is pretty hefty if you ask us.

They’ll be heading our way later in Q1 with select configurations, with more to come. The launch configuration is with an RTX 5080, and comes in at $3,199 – which would likely put the RTX 5090 version in at around $4000 – $4300 by my estimates.

When will RTX 5090 laptops be available to buy?

RTX 5090 laptops are set to release in Q1, mostly in March as it stands, but obviously we expect to see pre-orders start going live before then.

This is in contrast to some of the RTX 5090 prebuilt gaming PCs, which may be heading our way on January 30th, shortly after the GPUs go live. This isn’t confirmed, but this is based off the RTX 4090 launch prior.

RTX 5090 mobile GPU vs RTX 4090 mobile GPU specs

When it comes to performance, it’s not secret that laptop GPUs are scaled down versions of their desktop counterparts. There’s a lot of reasons behind this, from the obvious lack of space in a laptop chassis to the difficulties cooling the component itself, compared to a desktop. That being said, this generation does appear to promise a significant improvement on the mobile RTX 4090.

Here’s a table showing the RTX 5090 mobile GPU specs, the main standout of which is to do with the dramatic increase in cores, VRAM, and the inclusion of the latest GDDR7 memory.

Should you buy an RTX 5090 laptop?

Buying an RTX 5090 laptop is going to be a serious investment of money, so it’s worth considering carefully before pulling the trigger. Here’s a few pros and cons of the RTX 5090 laptops from our perspective.

Reasons to Buy
  • Latest and greatest mobile GPU boasting substantial improvements on the RTX 4090.
  • Access to DLSS 4 off the bat, without having to wait for updates.
  • Multi-frame-generation exclusive to 50-series.
  • Future proof for at least a few years.
Reasons to Avoid
  • Looking in the region of $3500 – $4500 on launch, which is incredibly expensive.
  • Scaled back version of the RTX 5090 not as powerful as desktop GPUs or prebuilt PCs.
  • Scaled back CPUs also, many of which appear to be Intel only.
  • More powerful laptops tip the scales at over 6 lbs in some cases.
  • Highly unlikely to drop in price even in the Black Friday sales.

Overall, we’d say that if you’re super keen for the absolute best of the best laptops on the market, an RTX 5090 is the way to go, but anything less than that, and we’d advise sticking with a 40-series for now, as comparatively speaking, it’s far cheaper and still very powerful.
