AMD forgot to tell us its new 5900XT and 5800XT have also been delayed according to some retailers

In the announcement of its latest processors, AMD surprised us all with another release to its AM4 platform. Alongside the expected Ryzen 9000 series release date, both the 5900XT and 5800XT release dates were announced. However, since the initial end of July date that AMD set up, the 9000 series processors have been delayed. But that was just the new Zen 5 CPUs that had been mentioned in the delay as the lower options were set for August 8th with the top end for the 15th, but no immediate word of the new Zen 3 options.
That is until some retailers had updated their product pages to reflect this delay in releases. It’s B&H Photo that has the 5900XT and 5800XT pages already up with a date on when the Preorder starts for both CPUs. Updated from the July date it is now the 15th of August for the 900 and the 8th of August for the 800, matching the Zen 5 processors’ new dates. So if you were looking for the new old processors, it looks like you’re possibly waiting an extra few weeks. Although the 5800XT suggests a 2031 date on the page it’s likely a typo.
Why the CPUs have been delayed
The official reason AMD gave was to be “better safe than sorry” as it found some last-minute issues in the processors as they were being distributed. However, other leaks suggest it was a simple printing mistake on the IHS, where the 9700X was mislabeled as a Ryzen 9 model. That would be quite embarrassing to put out so it’s no surprise it chose to delay the release. Although it’s surprising it moved every CPUs release and now has also split them into two different weeks.
