Right now, our team are hard at work speaking to retailers and finding out exactly when stock will be back for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. We’ll be updating this page as and when we know.
Be aware, eBay has Ryzen 7 9800X3D stock availability now – but they’re being listed at incredibly high margins that are way above the MSRP. Our recommendation is to wait for the vendors to get stock back and purchase through a reliable, trustworthy source.
How long do CPUs normally stay out of stock for?
If history tells us anything, it’s that, most processors don’t stay out of stock for too long. Most of the recent CPU launches from both Intel and AMD have crashed on opening sales week, meaning there was no issue with stock across the most popular vendors. For more popular launches, such as the 7800X3D, there were some stock issues – but that was resolved relatively quickly by AMD.
For this particular product, it’s hard to tell – mainly because so many sold out in such a short space of time. AMD knew this was going to be a successful launch and have probably planned for this exact eventuality. That said, the only way to find out how long the 9800X3D will be out of stock for is to keep looking – or, bookmark this page as we’ll be updating it when stock becomes available.
Why is the Ryzen 7 9800X3D so popular?
As mentioned above, the 9800X3D sold out almost immediately after going live, but why?
The most obvious reason is due to performance – but not just the performance of the 9800X3D. Intel just launched its Core Ultra 200 Series CPUs, and despite efficiency on the up, performance was on a horizontal trajectory. Reviewers slammed the Series and most gamers were put off by underwhelming performance when compared to older gen chips and Ryzen’s X3D part.
AMD’s own 9950X also didn’t quite offer the value-to-money prospect you’d want for enticing in huge numbers of buyers. While it performed while generationally, it still fell short in gaming when compared to the X3D of the time.
Fast forward to the 9800X3D launch, and reviewers are praising this chip massively, stating “RIP Intel” and “Obliterating the competition” sending buyers into a frenzy.
