ASUS has just launched one of the most unique-looking GPUs we’ve seen as of late. No, it’s not embedded with real gold like the Dhahab Edition from a few months back; instead, it comes with a four-fan design (while still managing to fit in your PC case). So far, we’ve seen the brand giving away an RTX 5080 to celebrate its milestone anniversary, and now there’s a new 5090 on the way.

The ROG Matrix Platinum RTX 5090 is the card in question, featuring both 12V-2×6 and GC-HPWR power connectors – the latter is for BTF motherboards and cases. We recently reviewed a ROG Astral RTX 5090 BTF OC edition card, and found the ‘Back-To-the-Future’ design useful for hiding cables and minimizing melting cable worries.

The most striking part of this new 5090 is the cooling solution. The Matrix Platinum is fitted with four fans in total – three on the front of the card as usual, as well as a rear-facing fan, which is a setup we’re already familiar with from the Astral series. However, this anniversary card adds a little extra flair with the curved design on the back-to-back fans.

Copper and liquid metal GPU cooling help keep the temps on this flagship card low. Importantly so, because it also offers up to 800W power input via dual power inputs, which ASUS claims nets a 10% performance boost, assumedly compared to Nvidia’s Founders Edition. The 5090’s usual TDP is 575W.

The brand is in the process of celebrating 30 years of making graphics cards, and the new ROG Matrix Platinum RTX 5090 is part of the celebrations. There’s a theme park-themed event happening right now with a bunch of prizes already revealed, including “something BIG coming soon,” though it doesn’t look like the Matrix Platinum card is the mystery top 1 prize.
