Cyberpunk 2077 is the “gift that keeps on giving” for Nvidia GPU owners, but the new update introduces a crash

Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way since its rocky release in 2020. Back then, the game was filled with bugs and technical issues, which left many players disappointed. However, the developers, CD Projekt Red, stuck with it and worked hard to improve the state of the game, leading to Cyberpunk 2077 becoming one of the best titles out there.
Even though the game is over four years old, the developers haven't stopped supporting it, as they recently released Patch 2.21, which is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. This update includes various fixes and improvements. The most exciting news is for PC players, as the latest patch adds support for Nvidia’s latest DLSS 4 technology and the new Transformer model for DLSS Ray Reconstruction, which aims to improve stability, lighting, and detail in motion.

New DLSS Transformer model delivers stunning results in Cyberpunk 2077
DLSS 4 was announced at CES 2025. It introduces a feature called Multi-Frame Generation, which is exclusive to Nvidia RTX 50 series graphics cards. But even if you own an older RTX card, you can still enjoy some of the benefits, like the new DLSS RR Transformer model. This new Transformer model replaces the old CNN-based DLSS system that Nvidia had been using for years, and it significantly improves image quality, especially in games with intense Ray Tracing.
A player named Sebastian Castellanos shared their experience on X after trying out Cyberpunk 2077 with the new Transformer model. They said the new model delivers “phenomenal image quality,” and in motion, the visuals are much sharper and smoother, with less ghosting and shimmer compared to the older DLSS version. Sebastian didn't mention which Nvidia GPU they were using, but they managed to get an impressive 204 FPS in the game. They also shared a screenshot of their gameplay, and the visuals looked stunning.
You might face some issues
However, while this all sounds exciting, it seems as if the Ray Reconstruction (RR) feature is currently buggy, causing game crashes. Fortunately, they were able to fix the issue by disabling the RR feature through the in-game settings. And if you can’t get past the intro videos after launching Cyberpunk 2077 due to the feature enabled, simply follow these steps to fix it:
- Go to “%LOCALAPPDATA%\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077”
- Find “UserSettings.json” and open it using a text editor.
- Scroll down and find “DLSS_D.”
- Set its value to “false”
In any case, Cyberpunk 2077 continues to impress even years after its release. RTX 50 series owners will be able to get the best experience possible thanks to the new DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation feature. We already saw PC Centric testing Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K on the RTX 5090 with the settings maxed out. Thanks to DLSS Multi Frame Generation, they were getting around 280 FPS and 35ms latency with Ray Tracing fully enabled.
