Since the release of the Z890 chipset, hardware manufacturers have been engaged in fierce competition to see who could post the most impressive scores for DDR5 RAM. The latest success comes from a team-up between ASUS ROG and RAM maker G.Skill.

DDR5 RAM is the fastest on the market, with high speeds such as 6,400 MT/s. Some PC users have engaged in some tinkering to overclock the RAM to truly incredible levels by using overclocking and some fairly extreme cooling choices.

ASUS ROG announced on Twitter/X that: “ROG pushes the limits once again!” along with details on the new world record posted by user bl4ckdot. This user put together a combination of a ROG Maximus Z890 Apex motherboard, combined with G.Skill F5-8000J3848F24G DDR5 RAM to achieve an eye-watering memory performance of 12,822.

Memory (RAM)
Total Size24576 MB
TypeSingle Channel (32 bit) DDR5-SDRAM
Frequency6411.2 MHz (DDR5-12822) – Ratio 3:186
Timings68-127-127-127-2 (tCAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tCR)
Slot #1 ModuleG.Skill 24576 MB (DDR5-5600) – XMP 3.0 – P/N: F5-8000J3848F24G

A look at the World Record RAM performance rankings shows that G.Skill appears several times in the list. It was, in fact, a G.Skill RAM kit that first surpassed the 12,00 barrier. It must be noted, however, that liquid nitrogen cooling is needed to reach these awesome performance figures.

The World Record rankings on HWBot note that ‘There are no rules in world record ranking' and as such, those trying to break the record are welcome to use unreleased hardware, engineering samples, or other exotic solutions to achieve their goal. In this particular case, commercially available hardware was used, but next time it could be something completely different.
