Path to Menzoberranzan is described as the biggest and most ambitious Baldur’s Gate 3 mod in development right now. It’s set to be a fully voiced three-act custom campaign, and it began development soon after Larian Studios released its official BG3 modding tools. The devs actively aim to get the community involved, and now, fans have the chance to design an NPC.

We’ve already seen a similar community-made NPC vote happen in the Path to Menzoberranzan Discord, but this time, the developers are giving you much more freedom. As part of an NPC Giveaway, three individuals will have the opportunity to choose an NPC’s name and visual design. Everyone gets one entry, and the winners will be announced in less than a week.

With our level design mapped out for our tutorial, we’re moving on to environment design! What does this mean you ask? Simply put, we’re taking the basic sketch of our level and adding the fine details to deliver an immersive atmosphere. We’re creating custom assets, placing objects, refining our scenes, and more!

• Their Visuals (It can be a simple description, or direct assets included in official BG3, like “Body type 2”, Their Race and Gender, Their outfit.)

As you may suspect, the development of Path to Menzoberranzan is very much a volunteer-driven effort, so having a sense of community is a massive part of the project. It was revealed earlier this year that the devs were “off to a great 2026,” but they’re always seeking more help when necessary.

According to the post, the winning NPCs “will be placed within the existing world, setting, and story”. That’s as far as their inclusion goes, as the winners will not be able to request specific spoken dialogue or associated quests. Of course, that doesn’t rule them out from getting some voice lines – you just won’t be able to choose them.
