Dragon Age: The Veilguard is Steam Deck Verified
Today’s news is that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been Steam Deck Verified. This seems very early for Valve to be testing the game given its proposed “Fall” release and hopefully, it means the game itself is pretty much done and BioWare will have plenty of time for polishing!
Testing has been carried out using Proton 9.0-2 which is the latest stable version of the compatibility layer for running Windows games on the Steam Deck and Linux desktops. This is also great news for any Linux PC users who are eagerly awaiting the release of The Veilguard as it means compatibility for them should be no problem.
What we know about Dragon Age: The Veilguard so far
The new entry into the Dragon Age franchise got a reveal trailer last month as well as a 20-minute gameplay reveal and it’s fair to say that the response from fans has been a mixed bag. We don’t have an official release date for The Veilguard just yet but a “Fall” release has been announced.
Some fans have been positive about the franchise getting updated graphics and the shift to a different, action-based combat system. On the other hand, many have expressed frustration at the seeming lack of group-based combat mechanics as well as a perceived shift in visual tone. Moving away from the grittier visuals of early entries into the franchise and towards a more bright and vivid game world. All that said, many remain tentatively optimistic about the new release given the previous Dragon Age game’s success.
