The mod that took the game by storm, was a massive overhaul and basically a whole new game for free. But when it comes to how to install Fallout London it can be a bit of a struggle, especially when it comes to the Steam version of the game.

Due to the nature of the installation, many early adopters were experiencing difficulties in actually getting the game to run – especially when you factor in downgrading elements that are required.

So what about the Steam Deck? Well, those looking to play the mod can also go through the tedious process – if they feel up to the task – or instead, make use of the automated process that seemingly makes it a whole lot easier. Overkill has worked with krupar101 and Timo Schmidt from Deckverse, to create an easier way to get FOLON going on the handheld. This means if you’ve been holding out from installing the mod, this might be the way to do it.

How to use the auto-installer and the requirements for it

Firstly, before you even get started, you’re going to need to have Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition installed. Specifically, Fallout 4 needs to be in English with all the DLCs (apart from the High-Res texture pack from Steam), this can be altered by changing the properties of the game in Steam and unchecking the mod. You’ll also have to have Proton Experimental installed in your library.

Then you also need to have both a Nexusmods account and a GOG account. The latter of which you’ll want to add Fallout: London into as it’s free and a way to move the files over. The authors do warn that this process does require patience as it takes time especially as the downgrade process takes plenty of time and might not seem like there is progress, but you’ll have to trust it is working.

Below you can find specific instructions on how to use the auto-installer. You can find these instructions on the Overkill website, and be aware this is considered to be in the beta stage and still might have some bugs and fixes to sort them. Any problems can also be submitted to the GitHub repository that also details how it works and the files if you want to check over them.
