At this point, you may know that the Intel Arc A-series GPUs didn't do amazingly well, at one point Intel had a GPU market share of 0%. However, Intel is planning on changing the tides with its “Battlemage” discrete GPUs. While there hasn't been official word from Intel, we can only speculate on the release date of Battlemage cards, but it seems like they might drop in the latter half of 2025.

That said, we've seen Battlemage GPU specs in some testing databases and some references for how they'll perform. It seems like one of the Battlemage GPUs, codenamed G21, has made its way to Geekbench.

Intel Battlemage G21 Geekbench score leak

Intel has been cautious in ensuring no information about this upcoming lineup leaks, but nothing remains hidden forever. According to catee.net, which has the Kernel Driver database for Intel Xe Graphics, this GPU has the PCI ID of 8086:E20B and is named “Battlemage G21.”

It appears under “Intel Xe Graphics RI” in the Geekbench database, and we've got a look at some of the basic specifications. The G21 has 160 compute units, a maximum frequency of 2,850 MHz, and a memory capacity of 11.6 GB. That last detail is a little unusual; we expect it to clock in at 12GB VRAM upon launch.

Close scores to the RX 7600 XT and RTX 4060

‘Intel Battlemage G21’97,943
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060102,118
AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT88,599

Battlemage G21 has been tested in OpenCL, paired with an Intel Core i5-13600K and 32 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 4,788 MT/s. It managed a score of 97,943, which puts it approximately around the same level as the RX 7600 XT or the RTX 4060.

AMD’s RX 7600 XT scored 88,599 in an OpenCL test, while Nvidia’s RTX 4060 seems like a closer matchup with a score of 102,118. For comparison, the cut-down laptop variant scores scores of 98,137, so it could be the closest match of them all performance-wise.

In any case, it seems Intel is slowly catching up to AMD and Nvidia. Since we don't know where the G21 is in the performance hierarchy, we can't be sure how much progress they've made. It could be a mid-range GPU rivaling the performance of an entry-level AMD or Nvidia GPU.
